Slide show

(shagileo) #1

Hellow,

I was wondering how I could make something like a slide show in my map. I’ve seen it in other maps before (e.g.: Gamma mill => newbie television or something)
You could see a television with images that change, instructing the players how to trickjump. Now, I would like to create a similar effect (not a tutorial on how to TJ of course, but with fading or changing images).

I understood it had nothing to do with scripting (yuy :cool: )
Anyway, thanks for the help :wink:

grtz,

OK, I was reading through the Q3A Shader Manual when I found this

PS: If you are interested in making long videos for your map, try Quake Video Maker

You can also include a video (.roq file format) with the videomap shader command:

textures/mymap/slideshow
{
      videomap video/slideshow.roq
      blendfunc add
      rgbGen identity
}

Videomaps are not limited to 8 frames like animMap, but players with certain settings will only see a black texture (like for mirrors).

yes, yes, and as I said to make .roq, you can use Quake Video Maker (in the last post I didn’t said it clear)

Ok thanks for the replies.
The ROQ video format is indeed interesting, but it is as you said; I only saw a black image/frame in the RayBan projector prefab. That’s why I wanted to change the video into frames/pictures.

No doubt other mappers will find the Quake video maker interesting.

Basically, I have to do the trick in the shader file. ^^

I remember having made a roq video, and I needed something else then that fancy gui… cause its only able to render in a specific size… better try this: http://planetquake.gamespy.com/pagetools/pagetools.php?act=printnews&id=70384
