SKY question!

(fanny cradock) #1

i was looking for a sky brush so i downloaded the desert pack fron socks site, followed the instructions as best i could and i now have a series of new desert brushes including a few sky ones. i pasted the’ sky up’ brush onto the roof of my map but the problem is that it just looks shit. i know its me doing something wrong and not the brush as the one im using or possibly another one from the pack i downloaded was used in v2 factory, which looks great. to be honest it looks more like a painting of a sky, ie its static and u can clearly see the corners of the map.
did i install it wrong or something???

also when trying to fit the sky to the roof of my map i noticed i cant move the image (i dont mean the brush itself) as i normally would by holding the shift and arrow keys. ive been able to do this np b4. basically i can stretch the image of the brush till it fits the roof area (ctrl and arrow keys) but im left with the start of one sky and the beginning of another.
whats the deal with this???

First, locate the desert.shader I copied that to my etmain/scripts directory. Then add desert.shader to the shaderlist.txt file in etmain/scripts (make sure the path are correct to the desert sky image - I thin they are textures/desert etc in the shader file, but if you followed sock’s instructions, the files will be in textures/skyboxes/env/desert – I was lazy and just moved the desert folder into my etmain/textures…)

Anyway, then in radiant use the “desert_skybox” texture for all sides of the skybox (except the bottom). The shade will then used the sky images in desert/env and blend them according to the info in the shader…
