A simple video of the briefing playing while the game load, isnt more effective?
Skip briefing vote?
You don’t seem to understand the reason why it’s there @Drophys . Not only is it there to tell you what to do, but that time also allows other players to load in, load your assets, and for you to load there’s. If we took that time away you’d see the ‘blue man’ issue a lot more, not to mention players appearing and what not.

I have understood, it just sound silly to me, why the briefing that is the same has to be rendering in real time, it could be a video while the game is loading, like league of legends the game will only start when the game loaded to everyone
Here’s an idea.
Do something else while the game is loading.

I’m sorry, but from your response I don’t think you do understand how the system works. League is a very different game and as such is very hard to use it as an accurate comparison.
Currently once the map has loaded and you’ve joined the game you’ll notice you can run around and there’s a timer waiting for players to connect (Off the top of my head, I think this time is set to 45 seconds or so). After that, you then have the briefing video and the match begins. What you’re suggesting is changing the flow to:
Match gets organised > Map loads > Spend 45 seconds watching a video or looking at a loading screen (plus the time it takes to do the briefing) > Spawn and start the match.
I know which I’d prefer. I find it fun to run around the maps as you can plan your routes, warm up and get a feel for your opponent. And if I don’t feel like it, I just tab out and wait for everyone else to load in.
@stayfreshshoe I am really sorry, if I am a bit dense atm, but why can’t we just disable the briefing sequence and just stay on the server as long as the people not having disabled the briefing watching it? (lets assume time for running around is 45 seconds and the briefing is 15 seconds) why cant we choose to run around 60 seconds?
And what has to be loaded during the briefing sequence? We are already on the server for 45 seconds, as you said, before the briefing begins, but then we have to watch the briefing because the game needs to load stuff, otherwise we would see blue models and the map building up? Why dont we see blue models and the map building up before the briefing then, if the game needs the briefing sequence to make sure we dont see blue models and the map building up?
@n-x Players are still loading in. If you get into a match, hold tab and you’ll see the teams populate. The current flow has the map essentially restart just before the loading sequence begins (which you can tell by the odd stutters and cameras changing). This acts as a hard buffer for the match flow to then begin.
Essentially, we understand it’s a bit of an inconvenience and it could indeed be improved, but when you look at the work involved to change this vs the total benefits vs everything else that could be done instead, it’s not something which will make a big enough improvement to warrant any kind of priority at this time.
If we manage to fix and improve everything else to the point where this is one of the top reported issues, we’ll certainly review it.

Thank you for your insight, glad to see devs participating in such trivial post of mine

NO. Perfectly possible. As long as you have kept built-in UE3 server commands.
