Most of us here are just mappers, not skinners. So if you want to learn the art of skinning you may want to visit somewhere else like www.polycount.com

Mostly used tools for skinning are PhotoShop and PaintShopPro, you can start from scratch or you use photos/pictures and alter them to fit your needs.

About the skinpack, you will only see the skins if the server you play on also has this skinpack installed. (we have it installed)

Unfortunately, a big DOWN SIDE to sv_pure 1 is that all custom skins/soundpacks are basically banned from all pure servers. While you can obviously use skins/models to cheat (transparent leaves, nosepaks like Quake2 had) I think its a real bad move still. I run my server sv_pure 0 because I want people to be able to use whatever skins, models, and soundpacks they choose to use. 99% of the changes people make are fine and if somebody wants to edit the graphics to cheat, I feel sorry for them, but I’m not going to stop them and hurt all the legit changes people can make. (rant: Anybody make a crackwhore model for RTCW or ET yet?
