'Skill' in Brink

(sereNADE) #341
And your point?

All that essentially says is that Brink is easier to play/get the hang of than ET games, not that Brink requires not skill at all to play or that it offers no skills or mechanics that cannot be mastered.

Checkers (at least to me) requires less skill than Chess to play. Does this mean Checkers requires no skill?
i am not sure how you can miss the point nor can i believe you put the question to checkers out there before thinking it through.

Once the Clan Site support is implemented, you’ll see more coordinated team v team action. And the skill in that is gonna be intense. I still stand by judging Brink for what it is and that it has a lot of skill required to get the job done on a mission. Good players know this. Brink takes skill. That’s been my stance from day one. Glad it hasn’t changed.

(Verticae) #343

You still haven’t given a single example of something that takes actual skill in Brink. Please refrain from posting until you have.

(BioSnark) #344

Also, you don’t need a clan site to have coordinated team v team action. That was there on day one but has sadly moved on.

(wolfnemesis75) #345

Every game requires some kind of skill. So saying a game has no skill, disproves your whole opinion.

(.Chris.) #346

Again for the 3rd time or so, no one in this thread has alluded that Brink requires zero skill.
Again for the 3rd time or so, no one in this thread has alluded that Brink requires zero skill.
Brink takes more skill than any other game that’s come out in 2011.

(DarkangelUK) #348

Give your opinion sure, but there’s no need to resort to outright lying… that’s just low man, ya dig?

(Humate) #349

Prove it imo:

wolfnemesis

(xTriXxy) #351

The only skill skill in brink is to know how to uninstall it.

Ps. This was one awesome thread with valuable content until @ page 4 or 5 wolfnemesis dropped a load . And here we go again.

Shogun 2: Total War is one game that requires more skill than Brink. Portal 2 is possibly another. LittleBigPlanet 2 would also qualify on the strength of it’s design element complexity.

If you are going to compare games, please compare shooters to shooters. Comparing the skill in Brink to a game like portal is pointless.

(gooey79) #354

Then the person making the statement should be more specific. He did say ‘any other game’ after all.

Skill is not something that’s restricted to just shooters, either. There are many different types of skill.

Yes, there many different types of skill. But WHAT IS THE POINT of comparing Brink to lets say, a game of chess, or the board game risk. I don’t see the point at all.

I am not saying your post wasn’t an appropriate response to the that guys statement. I think both the comment and your response were pointless

(Crytiqal) #356

Can’t we all just put wolfnemesis on ignore and move on?

Clearly he has nothing valuable to say cause he nevers backs up his statements with reason and when asked to be more specific or bring proof he just ignores it.

(INF3RN0) #357

Not a huge need for comparison really… you just ask yourself what actually takes skill? Not movement. Not shooting. Not classes. What then? Maybe the person who gains the most xp for delivering the most buffs? Or the one with the most achievements? The only difference I ever noticed in competitive matches was team coordination. Surely a game has to be a bit more evenly scaled in all it’s components to feel truly “skilled”, which is where I suppose you would start using comparisons to other games that got that bit right.

(tokamak) #358

Wanna play a game of tic-tac-toe? I’ll eat my shoes if you win even just one game against me no matter the amount of matches.

The point was to give my opinion on some games that take more skill than Brink, isn’t that clear?

If you don’t see value in the conversation, remember you don’t need to get involved. Oh, and I’m not comparing it to board games, I’m comparing it to video games. Is there irony in your pointlessness point?
