Will do single player just to get a quick overview of the maps and objectives before going online. However I challenge SD to get me so excited about multiplayer that I break this rule.
Single Player vs. Online
euhm⦠When you go play āonlineā you can still following the campaign storyline right? So the reason to do single player to get to know the campaign/story doesnāt exist, right?
Single Player first, becauseā¦
-
always doing it like that

-
in order to get familiar with the maps, weapons/loadouts/classes
-
playing at my own pace and try out some various things without ruining the experience for everyone else on my team
yep, thatās the point people are making. No reason not to just do it with your friends since you can.
Sure there is -
maybe you donāt want to be bothered.
Maybe you want to soak in the game before playing with others.
maybe you want to get your feet wet with bots before taking it online with real players.
Regardless if my friends are getting it or not, I am going to want to play by myself first - so I can do what I want, when I want, and move at my own pace.
Yeah following the story uninterrupted and without having to re-do missions (on easy) is about the only reason.
Not really sure, since the experience is all the same really I might just do whatever I really feel like doing.
Iām starting to think single player though, so I can get the feel of the game first at my own pace rather than jumping right in with other players.

OK, point taken. I suppose the OPās original question was a fair one.
My answer: Iāll be working my way through the campaign, and Iāll likely have it set up so friends can join in. If Iām not done, and we have a GzR vs Gzr night in the meantime, Iāll be having lots of fun playing Stopwatch with clanmates that night.
So I guess Iām voting both.
Iāve played with bots before that have been better teammates then real people so Iāll play SP for a mission or two to get used to the controls and then again whenever Iām trying to master stuff uninterrupted. (put the bots on easy.)
I donāt care one way or the other about singleplayer (or reviews of it), personally, because I wonāt be playing it. Our opinions of reviews arenāt relevant to my point. I was highlighting the five key marketing points. Itās how Brink is being advertised that could backlash for them (based on critical/popular reviews) if they fail to deliver. Reviews do matter to most people.
AFAIC, the SP to this game wonāt be any more lame than the SP/campaign in any other game.
The only way to play games is against humans, imo.
What SD has done, however, is made it so that gamers who are afraid of the public, can play everything they do normally, but against humans (who are more challenging). They can do this seemlessly and without having to risk contact beyond the actual control of the characters (no voice etc.).
First DAY I think I will go on line public to celebrate Brink with others, and find some new friends that have this great game. Then back to SP to get a good feel for the game. After awhile a mixture of the two.
Straight after installing, would be MP. Then to SP to learn/get a feel for the game. Then probably MP only.

I donāt think any of use think it will be lame (if only because we pretty much know what to expect), as I said Iāll probably actually enjoy it more because I donāt like the typical single player experience.
BioSnarkās point is that Game Reviewers have an expectation as to what makes up a single player experience and are likely to review the game with this in mind, to the potential detriment of their final rating.
Hopefully most will be open minded enough to review it based on what it is, and not on what they expected it to be, but I doubt it. If I base my opinion on game review sites based off of their editing skills, most of them donāt bother too much with particulars, and some may not bother to play it long enough to really understand it.
But even so, I expect Brink will get very high ratings, even if the āsingle playerā is different, and who knows, maybe also because of it, there could be game reviewers out there who wonder why itās never been done this way before.
Online 100%.
Iāll experience the campaign chapters in whatever order, doesnāt matter. Iāll be jumping in wherever my friends are.
I have no interest in SP. I will be playing COOP with friends in story mode the whole way through first with probably a locked server for the first few days to get a feel for the game, look around at the story in the background of the scenery etc. Then once weāre all happy weāll unlock the server and play random matches.
Can we call it the āI donāt have a clue what Iām doing but I know I likes me some XPā incentive.
Seriously though I hope double XP for a day/week is for a player who completes the game offline or at least the lvl 1/2 challenges. Just giving it to go online is like encouraging people to walk into traffic.
As far as double xp goes, I heard that the game will evaluate your progress and after deciding that youāre ready to try online, will bribe you to do so. Iām not sure if you get double xp EVERY time you decide to play online.
One thing about the āSP/Co-opā will be that it will be a great place to work through strats with a clan/community.
Are the bots going to be scalable in skill level?
