Since when did DB's digit calculation changed?

(Tanker_Ray) #1

Well all of us knew that ammo box’s ammo was always Round-Off Digits and everything was,

but after some point of time, it went opposite. All 0.5s were chopped off.

Especially Looter augment that only gives you 2 rounds for Remburg,(I also remember when MOA had 5 rounds, ammo box gave you 3 rounds.)

and getting 42 rounds for MK.46. It used to be 43 because 0.5 will be 1.

Also as for example, shooting SNITCHed enemy’s body with Felix is 98.75 so it is clearly 99 damage,

but shooting SNITCHED Rhino’s head with Felix is 197.5 damage, but 0.5 is abandoned and calculated as 197 damage.

I remember the time when DB used to calculate that as 198 damage(Eventhough Aimee didn’t exist), so I’m quite curious when this was changed.(May be also include when Looter augment was nerfed in to half mag size.)

Still don’t know if 0.6 + numbers would rounded up.

Normally you start to round up at 0.5, 0.49 would be rounded down to 0.

No idea why the devs did that change but since theyre the only one to know this, you should maybe direct it at them.

I learned in math that you round up anything over 4.

Anything over 4.99, yes, but if you for example round the number 4,4 into a single digit number it wouldnt be 5 but 4.

It might be a little while since im out of school but i really roubt that it changed and have to wonder what kind of teacher told you to round up at 4… .

Is that the reason, why I have to get 3 ammo loads with a hochfire from an ammo crate, where the last load only gives me the very last bullet?

(Tanker_Ray) #6

All odd number mag size guns have this problem, just like MK.46 gets 42 mag per sec, so that you have to load three times for full mag without leaving the very last one bullet.

This was something that wasn’t used to be.

Besides the ammo box, as Looter Augment’s tiny ammo pack’s size was silence-nerfed in to half and rounded down, you will experience the 2 bullet non-sense for Looter + Remburg nowadays.

Like I’ve also wrote about damage caculation, it also applies to damage.

Somehow right now DB’s whole digit is abandoning (0.6 decimal points > digits.) Round-up supposed to make 0.5 to 1, but this never happens in DB right now. Only over 0.6.

So that’s why we are having trouble with odd number mag sizes.

Well I looked it up because my thought was that Americans and Europeans have different math rules but multiple sites showed that 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 are rounded up. So basically a 0.49 will be rounded up to 0.5. And 0.5 to 1.

@Yoma well to be more accurate anything that is lower than 0,5 is rounded down. 0,4999 is more than 0,499 and both should be rounded to 0 if we talk about the integers.

About Looter imo it should give you one full magazine to avoid confussion.

Yes, 0,4999 is more than 0,499 but since i didnt wanted to bother to find the period thingy on the keyboard i leaved it be with 4,99 since i thouhgt it suffices for understanding matters. As you sayed that everything below “5” gets rounded down is probably an better way to explain this.

If you intent to say that 0,49 will be rounded up to 0,5 and after that to 1 i have to disagree because under normal circumstances you wont round up twice.

Hmmmnnn, i learned to always round up to the .5 and above:

i.e.

4.678990 = 4.7

4.598776 = 4.6

4.499821 = 4.4

4.500001 = 4.5

etc. etc.

4.499821 = 4.4 would be 4,5 to me. If you wanted to say that you round up at the fifth digit behind the “,” then that is a thing which is neither wrong nor right because usually you have a certain amount of digits behind the “,” youre aiming for to be displayed. I usually had to display 3 digits behind the “,” which meant i rounded up or not the 4th digit behind the “,” and therefor the 3th digit behind the “,” might change. E.g:

3,3338124 = 3,334
4,4444532 = 4,444

It always therefor (atleast for me) depend on what amount of digits behind the “,” i have to display, to know at which digit i round up/down.

I think it happened in the patch that fixed the glitch that would allow ammo crates to give you an additional half of a magazine beyond the maximum, so you would carry 3.5 rather than the standard 3 extra mags if you sat at an ammo crate for long enough.

Oh damn. I remember this patch.

The time when you could carry M4 or Timik 35/105 + 18 = 123 without Spares right?

This makes sense.

Brilliant!
