Since the VIP servers are gone...

Since the VIP servers aren’t VIP anymore we got a problem now. We wanted to play a friendly draft as always and got constantly interrupted by a stream of new players joing and disturbing the matches. Some even insulted me as I told them we got a private match running here, they got no respect. It’s a mess now.

If you want to see drafts and clan matches going we need additional servers. Can we please have:

  • VIP server only for VIPs! (no drafts should be played on here, only for exceptions like showmatches etc.)

    [li] Draft servers where the password is given to the organisers of the drafts, like Potty, Mustang, etc.[/li]and they can spread the password only among the draft interested players who signed up in the thread
    (admin pw only for trustworthy community persons of course)

I agree. It’s becoming really hard to get proper drafts and testing servers. Can we have two VIP servers for EU and NA each =?

Yes, I accidently joined your draft the other day, didn’t mean too just thought as it was vip server and I had the password, I thought it was a normal session.

As you say, you need a private password for a designated draft server.

Well they basically said people who had access to alpha/beta are allowed to use the VIP servers and the people who have access for the stress test are not allowed.

Regardless of who is entitled to what, it would still be prudent to allow the testers who want to run scrims to have the ability to do so. After all, that’s the only way this game can be tested in that context, which is something you really want if you market it as the most competitive shooter ever.

No.The VIP servers pwds have been made public by mistake. Now everyone can join and interrupt our drafts

Who was joining the server? There’s an rcon kick cmd also if you got an admin around, but there have been people without forum access here participating in the gathers for a while now fyi. Are they not allowed to play in drafts unless they are VIPs?

So then perhaps we should have some private servers for public drafts. We can just play the maps already in rotation if that’s the issue, but I see no reason not to include interested stress testers in gathers.

seems a little pompous to not include certain people. i mean i understand you’re trying to have a private match, which is perfectly reasonable, just feels like we need to change the password. problem solved. maybe have multiple private servers, one with a semi-public password, and one thats for drafts and given to only a few people who would also have rcon

Since the community grew-up with the last wave of key and some more teams has shown up such as mine, the draft cup will have more sign-up and we can’t afford to play EU vs Eu games on an NA server as we did today. For the sake of running the cups and competitive things, we need more servers with restricted acces. Rex terms are fine for me, if the VIP servers are not meant for regular people, then we’ll need servers dedicated for competitive purpose.

Also, I apologize for coming in the middle of your game today Rex. After my first match ended, I was told to join your server and since you can’t join straight to the spectator team, I ended up in a playing team. I rushed to spec tho.

At this point I’d almost just rename the servers to “reserved”. All we really use them for are pugs and scrims, and rarely just VIP only games. If the new beta testers want to get in on some pugs, I don’t see why we shouldn’t include them. We don’t have to play blockout maps or those not in rotation either. If that’s the main reason why, then I’d just throw up a single blockout server with a separate password for VIPs only. If anyone is being uncooperative we can either try to reason with them or kick them via console and continue on our merry way. A lot of people simply are more interested in participating in organized and balanced games, which is the whole point of these events.

No need to apologize as I wasn’t referring to you, I meant the new players I have never heard about randomly joining the servers.
Yeah, VIP servers are not even meant for the crowd here in the general discussion, they are just for VIPs for testing purpose or other things.
And on the other hand like you and I already said we need servers for competitive usage to run drafts, clan matches etc.

The players which are interested in getting to know drafts and competitive play by signing up in the thread (!) aren’t meant here, it’s about those who just joined for the sake of annoyance.

Players who can’t behave shouldn’t have the password for the draft servers.

We had some spectators just now during a mix, none that I recognized either. I asked them to go to spec and they did so it wasn’t too much of an issue. The one thing I don’t get is why they think it’s anything other than a pug or scrim going on in there lol.

Multiples new players. They see a 5vs5 going and think it’s a good idea to join in. We had to pause the draft at least three times to get them out the “soft” way.

This is why we need servers clearly acknowledged as competition servers, not just VIP, and that anyone having a brain can instantly recognize as a NO TRESPASSING area.

Simply having the option to ‘LOCK’ teams would be good so when we do finally get it started we can stop people switching :smiley:
