Since FEAR install, ET has started visual lags, FPS chopping

Hmm i have trackmania nations installed (uses starforce) and no problems with ET. Ok i have a little lower framerate but that is caused by installing a virusscanner.

Are you going to play F.E.A.R. online? :drink: if so, i would like to play with you

Re-installed FEAR, same problem.

I am going to install FEAR to a small hard drive with an install of 2000pro.
Then change the boot config when I decide to play.
[ o well  …I can’t play ET with the odd lags, so FEAR has got’s ta mooove HD’s ! ]

(@ !ntraxz, I will PM you once I get into the online MP)

Almost certainly related to copy protection then, IMO.

Stop the copy protection service via Services.msc and see if it helps.

You can also remove it manually. Afaik you need to run the command “UAService7.exe -remove” from a command line at your system32 folder (e.g. C:\winnt\system32) and then delete UAService7.exe. When you paranoid you can create an empty text file with the name UAService7.exe and make it hidden and write protected to prevent reinstallation.

(PS: Starforce released a special tool to remove its copy protection http://www.onlinesecurity-on.com/protect.phtml?c=55 - but Sony is not Starforce …)

I tried your suggestion Ragnar_40k but the file/service isn’t on my system.
I ran the services.msc, command line, search…nothing. odd huh ?

FEAR also changed my screen tinting for all Q3 based games, ET especially, now has quite a bit of green overtones since FEAR’s install.

  • (I spoke with a few people, who have FEAR installed along with other Q3-based games and while they aren’t experiencing the “hiccup” problems that I have, they are seeing alot more green tint throughout their games.

TBH, I’d rather have it on a seperate bootable hard drive.
Thanks anyways.
