Simple question...

How do I make doors?

It also freezes whenever I go into the limbo…

Thanks.

Please before posting try to search the forums.

Ithink in the following thread you will find all you need (to avoid limbo freeze you have to set the map min and max coords):

Door tutorial: http://user.tninet.se/~fzo823r/doors.htm

You have to set your mapcoordsmins and mapcoordsmaxs, which are placed in the worldspawn entity. To just get your map to work, you can put -100 -100 for mapcoordsmins and 100 100 for mapcoordsmaxs.

(nUllSkillZ) #4

The example above should be:
-100 100
100 -100

Thanks for the help you guys but neither of those helped in the slightest bit. And i have been looking around the forums.

(zl1corvette) #6

I have found sometimes 100 is too small try uping it to 256.
“mapcoordsmins” Top left corner coordinate. Example “-256 256”.
“mapcoordsmaxs” Lower right corner coordinate. Example “256 -256”.

There’s another possibility.
If you haven’t made a mistake setting the coordinates (you should check for typing mistakes) it could be that you have to much pk3-files in your etmain directory.
Just try to cut some of the files (not pak0.pk3, pak1.pk3 mp_bin.pk3) and paste them in another directory.

These two should get the MAPotYA:

especially the map coords

soo many n00bs, soo little time

(Llama) #10

I have another problem. Now when I try to start up the map it doesn’t get past “Awaiting challnge… 0”. What’s wrong now?

(Orange) #11

As said earlier, you have too many PK3s.
It is recommended to have two installs of ET on your computer: one for playing and one for mapping.
If like me you don’t have enough free space you can just go into your Enemy Territory\etmain folder and move all .pk3 files to another folder except:
common.pk3
lights.pk3
mapmedia.pk3
mp_bin.pk3
pak0.pk3
pak1.pk3
astro-skies.pk3 (just in case…)

and run your map again.

Thanks orange. One more question for anyone. Something happened and now i can only see my textures if i actually play the map. When im using radiant to modify they just come up in solid colors like brown black grey, etc.

(Orange) #13

nUllSkillZ said it before but appearntly you missed it.

(Llama) #14

Yeah, I thought that would only solve my limbo problem.

(Mr_Tickles) #15

Ok, if you’re still having problems with the limbo freezing, you may not have set the mapcoordsmins and mapcoordsmaxs in the worldspawn entity…
Deselect everything, then select one of your skybox brushes and then press ‘n’. Check that the ‘classname’ is worldspawn, then type in the words exactly:

Key: mapcoordsmins
Value: -256 256
(press enter)

Key: mapcoordsmaxs
Value: 256 -256
(press enter)

That’s all you need to cure the limbo crash, nothing else should cause it. Just make sure that everything is spelt correctly and that it is in the worldspawn entity.

an easier way around the pk3 problem is to use a seperate install of ET. i have 1 for playing, and 1 for mapping. i’ve been told it’s a good idea to have a third for testing, but meh.

This can sound stupid. but I solve it with this 2 commands:
cl_allowdownloads 0
