Simple question: Should Thunder cost less?

(SzGamer227) #1

Sure he’s big, but concussion grenades don’t seem the kind of ability that justifies costing 50k credits. I personally think that 30k would be a fair enough price, and I feel he’s more in league with the 30k mercs than with the other 50k mercs that have a more obvious appeal. (Why buy the big guy with concussion grenades and an LMG? There’s a nearly as large guy with REAL grenades, and he has an LMG too. There’s also an even BIGGER guy who has a minigun…)

The situation doesn’t require much explaining. So, what do you think?

To any Thunder fans out there, I’m not saying that Thunder’s ability isn’t good or useful; I’m saying that if you’re looking at 50k credit mercs to buy, there are other mercs whose abilities seem more impressive and have a more obvious and direct use than Thunder’s stun grenades.

I’m not bashing on Thunder or saying he sucks (I’ve been screwed over by plenty a good Thunder), but I do think he would fit in better if he were one of the less costly mercs to buy.

Considering every other merc he’d be competing with for 50k credits, I really don’t think people would be too enticed to buy him compared to pretty much any other 50k merc.

It’s actually the fact that 30K mercs cost that much because they were some of the first mercs in the game (excluding Fragger because he was that good) You really can’t justify changing Thunder when it’s obvious that he is getting changed, but I recommend that SD should lower the prices overall on all mercs, just 5K less each merc is that much better in the long run for improving the community population and allowing new players easier access to the game.

He is not old enough to be reduced price. devs gotta make money somehow.

I’m actually quite curious as to why Fragger and every other released being priced at 50k, I was thinking Fragger and other Assaults would be priced at 50 since they’d have better fire power for straight forward fights but can’t give ammo or have powerful AOE damage, give health or faster revives or faster defusal/arming of C4 and repairs.

I prefer to wait after the next fine tuning since it was said Thunder would probably get buffed id rather wait to see what will be done before answering this.

(Only_Use_Me_Lazer) #8

I was under the impression assaults were all 50K despite less overall usefulness at objectives because they’re not as team friendly, and they dev’s wanted to promote team play.
That’s just what i heard

Yes, make him change places with Vaseline. A win-win.

(sgtCrookyGrin) #10

They buffed him now, what are your opinions?

@sgtCrookyGrin
Buff’s to the MK46 were pretty good.

His Concussion Grenade? Fuck no.
Multiply by 0 and you still get 0, They’re blinding effect is inconsistent, this is coming from both the giving and the receiving end.
I’ve been blinded by the grenade being a pixel in the distane and not blinded by it at close distances.

Surprisingly the best time to use it is to use it on people from at a distance and shoot them while they’re blinded they can’t exactly hit people from afar.
(This is a perfect case as for why his original K-121 was better for Thunder.)

As for what Splash Damage want Thunder to do Breaching/Clearing with his concs in tight small areas, player’s are easily able to fire back the moment they get hit while blinded due to their damage recieved compass telling them where they’re being hit from and it just takes one shot to get Thunder’s healthbar to pop up and be given the jist of where his head is.

This is why I always bring up the suggestion that SD should just trash this inconsistent blinding and just bring back the mouse movement locking effect that is more severe one is closer to the center of the blast radius, Thunder’s enemies can use their WASD keys to align themselves correctly to fight back but they cant shoot precisely.

Give him away for free. Seriously, that hit box and movement speed alone allows even the less fortunate in the aiming department to mow you down. Sometimes even after you conc naded them, cause people cried when their mouse movement was tampered with. That is why I am against balancing, players will never be happy anyways. The balancing will go on forever. I have played so many fps games extensively and it is always the same story. Someone doesnt like to get sniped, another doesn’t like to get shotgunned and a third doesn’t like a nade in the face.
