Silly OP Phantom Idea

I know there’s already been a ton a threads about Phantom and his cloak and his emp already, but while I was perusing the DB game files, I found files regarding a hack device item. Now, I know from my experience with changing in-game text that there was text regarding hacking, but I figured it was simply an action such as defusing the C4 and not an actual item.

This made me think of something pretty crazy. What if instead of a hacking device like a phone or whatever to manually hack stuff, what if Phantom’s emp was changed to a hack field? Instead of disabling deployables, it turned them friendly for a certain amount of time. They would only turn friendly when Phantom exited cloak though. It would still retain the emp effect when Phantom is cloaked.

Think of it like the emp effect being hacking into the deployable’s systems, and when Phantom exits cloak, the hack takes root and alters the deployables. Health stations heal friendlies instead of enemies and proxy mines and turrets turn on their owners.

Probably would not be a viable ability for a balanced multiplayer game, but it’d be pretty hilarious to run into gen room on Bridge and turn the entire room into a death trap for the enemies, lol.

i had the same idea for some sort of hacking device that could be thrown similar to the SNITCH. I think it could work as long as there are some limitations. AKA could be countered by picking up the deployable or destroying the device.

Fortress Forever spy can change enemy buildings into friendly.
I also been suggesting a similar idea for Phantom a while back.

i think good idea for Phantom is:

  1. The Cloak.
  2. A hacking device to take manual control over a sentry or something like that, it would be cool c:

Don’t take this idea too seriously, now. I just thought it’d be funny if this was a thing.
