Sign-in could not be completed (ESET Smart Security 8) [Unfixed]

(sneak) #1

I got this error when I started playing recently and made an exception in my firewall (ESET Smart Security 8). The game has been running fine since then (over a week) and after today’s patch it won’t run unless I disable the firewall. This isn’t right. If I make an exception in my firewall this should be enough, I shouldn’t have to completely disable the firewall in order to get into a game. This is apparently an issue that has been around for a while as I’ve found many people with the same issue. I’ve tried verifying the game integrity with steam and it said it fixed 2 bad files but I still have the same issue.

I saw the General Technical Support thread mentioned something about SSL filtering from BitDefender. ESET Smart Security 8 also has this but I always have this feature disabled.

Here’s the log of what the firewall is doing when the game launches (this is from running the game ONE time): http://i.imgur.com/Txfr6Px.png

EDIT: About an hour after I tried running the game it’s suddenly working again. I completely forgot the possibility of a bad hop from me to the server. I recall getting disconnected from only DirtyBomb lastnight. Maybe it was this, but now I can’t check since it’s working fine.

EDIT 2: See third post for solution.

EDIT 3: Game still broken. It was working for about half a week.

This still happens on and off. Today, once again I can’t connect. Same error. The only way to get in is to disable my firewall, which I shouldn’t have to do. That’s what exclusions are for.

I expect this to work as intended, so disabling the firewall isn’t a solution I’m willing to accept. I’d like an actual fix for this, not a workaround. Can I get any kind of official support or answer to this issue?

I’ve figured out how to fix this. After going through several different options in ESET Smart Security 8, I’ve found that the game is somehow being modified at launch (likely something to do with anticheat).

For ESET users:

  1. Go to Setup > Network > Advanced Firewall Setup
  2. Expand the “Personal Firewall” tree and go to “Application modification detection”
  3. If you have this sign in issue, you have the first box checked. Both boxes are checked by default. Enable “Allow modiffications of signed (trusted) applications” if it isn’t already.
  4. Click the “Add…” button and you should see the Dirty Bomb executable in the list. Select it and click “OK”. Now click “OK” for the Advanced setup window.

Suddenly the game won’t work, again.

Any answers from staff? Is this being worked on? Is there a solution?

I was playing just fine since November 22nd and then all of the sudden I can’t run the game anymore. It was working fine the entire day after the patch and it just stopped on it’s own. Nothing has been changed but it won’t run. Why can’t I get any official comment on this issue? When is it going to be possible to run the game on a regular basis?

It’s now in a state where even with the firewall off, it won’t sign in. Why doesn’t this thread get bumped when replies are made? It was never replied to and now it’s getting lost in all the pages of reports.

I just downloaded the game and have the same issue no clue how to fix it

I made a ticket with Nexon and supplied all relevant information then was told to try things I previously explained I had already done. Eventually it came down to them telling me when it happens again to contact them.

I have raised a ticket on this exact same subject. I had it working after disabling the Personal Firewall. I have tried to launch it again and no joy. Makes no difference if I use ‘Personal firewall’ or not. I am using Smart Security 9.
