What’s the odds of including a shoutbox with say 5 posts on the main page layout? It could display the last 5 posts, and have a link to the last 100 or something.

They’re handy when someone wants to say something that doesn’t warrant a new thread etc, and I think would be more widely used than the chat (which has not much more than a lot of idling going on :wink:).

Might help keep my post whorish post count down to a more gentlemanly level. It’s quite embarrassing really :o

With all the activity in the forums, starting a shoutbox would make it fill once a minute, defeating its purpose.

No you’re right, it would probably result in some kind of chat box with lots of ‘lulsing’ and ‘ruflels’ rather than a simple 'hi forums ! ’
