Should we be mad or sad?

(Petrolbomb_Tom) #1

After watching game footage (about 20 hours over the past 5 days) and reading reviews and opinions about Brink I still don’t know how to fee about this game, not if it’s good or bad, just if I should be sad for or mad at Splash Damage.

I will let you all come up with your own conclusions why I feel this way as I just don’t have the energy to to argue or reply to all the flaming and troll comments I would get but to be honest the reasons or quite obvious (deep down you know I’m right).

I will say though that it is more to do with the difference between the vision and ideas behind Brink that Paul and the guys have been explaining to everyone for a few years now and the actual game.
Maybe it’s because it sounded so new, bold, daring and when they spoke so enthusiastically about their new vision I could not fall in love with it too.

Like I said, I just can’t quite work if I feel mad at, or sorry for Splash Damage at this moment, either way guys please don’t give up on your vision, it is future evolution of FPS shooters, I’m sure of it and I know you do too.

Since I joined the forums all I’ve seen from you is a complete negative attitude towards everything about Brink and you quite obviously were praying Brink would fail. Their are some questionable reviews at the moment, but on average I have read far more reviews between 8-9 than I have lower. Many reviewers did not wait for the day 1 patch to review the game as well which apparently helps things quite a bit. This is really early on so i have no idea what anyone on the forums would be mad or sad about. Anywho, don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

A 9/10, got a link for that? Best I’ve seen is an 8. As for mad or sad, just sad! Had real high hopes for Brink, still I will try it first before judging it.

Yup,

Like I thought, you miss my point.

I care little for review scores ect, and you have no idea how much I wanted the vision and promises of Brink presented to us too succeed.

I did not write this to anoy any long time forum members or mindless fan boys (I do not think these two groups of people are the same by the way, far from it), more to say I belived in SD’s so much that I feel let down. Maybe no game could live up to what I thought this game was going to be, but I can say this game is far from it.

I do hope you understand - There is no Brink hate going on here - I imagine it feels the same way you would if you pursued a beautiful woman for over a year to finally get her back to your place only to find out she had adam’s apple.

Same guy who posted This

I wouldnt worry about it too much, still trolling.

Also, the way he worded his post makes it impossible to really respond. He doesn’t give anything concrete, just says “its not as good as i had hoped”.

My bad, I misread your post and I’ll admit that , I got 3 hours of sleep the yesterday and am running on fumes. I do hear here your coming from but I’m going to play the game for a good week before rushing to jump any bandwagons. I do stand by my post that I have seen some trollworthy posts from you though.

You are trolling on the forums since weeks. I feel sad for you.

Currently only xbox reviews, 10 positive, 2 mixed, and 2 very negative.

I think maybe SD should have just kept making as good PC games as they can, instead of trying to do 3 versions at once. I know consoles = money, but reputation has to mean something too, doesn’t it :frowning:

I know consoles = money, but reputation has to mean something too, doesn’t it :([/QUOTE]Amen to that. Look there’s a great game inside Brink, but it’s lost under a sea of bad choices. The Parkour element? Nice, but it’s not used enough at all to be great. The Objectives Hud is so unoptimized for the PC, it’s too big and using the mouse to circle around is not natural at all. And I’m sorry but the decision to try to merge Single Player with Multiplayer falls flat on its face, I never cared about the story of Brink.

And it doesn’t help that it runs on crap on my Powerful Computer. I really wanted to like this game, but I just can’t. Please Splash Damage you can’t just port a game over to the PC and call it a day. We need a different Interface and the controls are frankly cumbersome. Why is it that when I use a Revive Syringe I have to hold onto X? Why can’t I just hold down the left Mouse Button. Same for setting up mines.

Ah…i remember back in the good old days when trolls were people who tried to provoke others.
Nowadays, every other retard thinks the term can be applied to anyone who doesn’t share their opinions.

Wait. That’s a bad thing?

None of us thought Brink was going to be genre-defying. If you truly thought that, then you haven’t played enough video-games.

We just wanted a game based more on teamwork than, “omg guys look at my new FMJ M4A1 trolololol.”

All I’ve seen from reviews is that it’s essentially set up like Shadowrun with gameplay over graphics. I have no problem with this.
