Should this behaviour be allowed in Dirty Bomb

(poit187) #1

Look… to be honest I am sick of people thinking they can abuse you in game and it be ok. it is NOT ok and the devs of the game should take this seriously.

It literally took a change.org petition with 50+ signatures, several videos and even then Nexon/SD only banned JiM for 1 week! ONE WEEK!!! think about this for a second. What JiM did was not only abusive, but actually broke the law in Australia that carries a penalty of 7 years behind bars! A CRIMINAL ACT! and Nexon are all like … yea… i guess we kind of have to take action…blah blah blah… 1 week pathetic ban.

I get home today and sit down for a game of Dirty Bomb… literally seconds after joining start getting abused… and then vote kicked… never seen this guy before. Now before you post stuff like “if you don’t like it then play on a different server”… fine… sure… but that opinion is a straw man argument… BECAUSE it deflects the QUESTION, which again is “Should this behavior be allowed in Dirty Bomb”

Because the answer is a resounding NO! it begs a follow up question, how should it be dealt with? reporting? reporting doesn’t do anything, NOTHING WILL HAPPEN TO THE PLAYER!!

So what left? sit back and just wait for someone that is KNOWN and reported to be abusive to be abusive again?

Nexon/SD really should take a hard line on abusive players… ZERO tolerance.

(Ohsnapkline) #2

yeah report abuse is a much needed thing with penalties included on the abuser

So many angry people in this game, it’s ruining the experience for the rest of us that actually want to sit down and have some fun.

Question for you: Is JiM still actually bothering you? Or are you salty that he’s back? If you can cure a bully of his offensive and ridiculous behavior, while remaining humane, then he is a better person for all, and so are the punishers. If JiM is back, but nowhere near his former vulgarity, then maybe you should be happy for him! Now, onto my actual opinions (since I still mostly agree with wanting him gone…):

Bro… Is Australia just full of jerks or something? I had two friends from there that weren’t nice people either…

I don’t THINK Poit has done anything for any of his… ‘infamy’… but… sometimes it’s like people just hate you… I’m sooo sorry mate. Really don’t know why people are being so mean lately.
Only advice I can give is try not to focus on the negative, even if all of the servers you want to play on keep having you banned. As far as I know, It’s not fair to you. I wish I could help SD and you in some way.

As per your question, should abusive people be allowed in DB? I don’t like abusive people walking around, but, I hands-down believe in freedom of speech, and being man enough to take some crap. I think that also, sometimes people are rude in the above video like he was, possibly because they were trying to have a private match of some sorts. I know for a fact that people have been doing the above with friends in certain servers because they cannot start private matches anymore, and because the private match REQUIRES 5 people to start it. I really don’t know why SD disabled the feature, nor do I understand why they required five fudging people to start it, when often people just wanted to 1v1 or 2v2…

Or… maybe they were just exp grinding and didn’t want you there to stop their friends… I dunno. shrugs

I think it’d be a great idea to have volunteer [gm]s in the game that can go in and view matches daily for hackers and abusers like the above. Anyone could be a volunteer gm without people knowing. He’d only have emergency powers of either preventing a kick, or marking the account with a SEVERE watch policy, so that hopefully, the incident doesn’t repeat itself. This allows less abuse of power, and they should be handpicked by SD imo.

I try to be as useful as possible, and have lead many people to better experiences with DB, and to the great game that DB is. I only hope that incidents such as these would stop so that any future users do not experience such problems.

(kittz0r) #5

can i report people for playing like stupid motherfuckers on level 20 or 10 Servers? playing proxies and complaining about being 1 shotted with level 20+… can i report them for being stupid and useless?

(poit187) #6

You are drawing a parallel between players that use mercs you don’t like and people whinging about in game mechanics to abuse.

Nice try derailing the question, but it won’t work. better luck next time.

Yea, point taken. But if he was grinding XP he definitely wouldn’t want me on the other team, so it would appear that theory is wrong. If he just wanted a private match with his buddies, then again, he wouldn’t want me on the other team. His beef with me is that I was on HIS team… I am lost to know why, never met the guy in game before, but my friends have and say he is an angry angry guy… so many its just that simple.

“Is Australia just full of jerks or something?” you know what? yes, largely. There are so many jerks here that its hard to find decent people (THEY DO EXIST!). So many people are jerks including our politicians (but I guess that can be said about a lot of countries).

I added something to the top of my remark, because I realized I wanted to make another pseudo point. I’m glad you’re so fast at responding though! more skill to you!

I see you added a question after I replied. Let me answer it

JiM is still bothering me yes, on the rare occasion he joins (under a completely new name mind you, he does this on purpose so he can stay under the radar long enough to troll a few comments before i disconnect)… so far he just takes stabs at my work place… very subtle passive aggressive antics - so I will know he is been passive aggressive but no one else.

It just proves to me that JiM’s actions are intentional and coordinated, not just some silly one off rant, he literally is a psychopath by definition.

Thanks man. Your typing is easier to read when you’re not as angry btw.

Sorry to hear about these guys. One cant fix stupid unforunately.

Luckily these people tend to get themselves banned in a while. Justice will be served eventually ;).

vjm88 is just another troll like JiM, except even worse at the game.

He abuses everyone dude, so don’t take it personally. He abuses me all the time. His main line is “ENJOY YOUR BAN CUNT I WORK FOR NEXON AU DIVISION YOU’RE SO FUCKING GONE”

I’ve considered reporting him just on the basis he is always claiming to work for Nexon haha. Is that against the rules? I don’t even know.

I think impersonating is definitely against the rules…but just saying that, I don’t know.

btw. I think Nexon should start dealing with these people like Blizzard does w/ Overwatch.

(Pyjama_Slam) #15

Players like that just crave for attention. Ignoring them hurts them more than you being kicked. Besides, if it was a full lobby no one would have accepted that kick. :stuck_out_tongue:

(hawkeyeguy99) #16

People are assholes. It’s not unique to Australia. If you have EVER played an online COD match you know what I’m talking about. People on online shooters feel safe to say whatever they want cause they’re just behind a keyboard and not face to face. If you see him again, just try blocking communication with him so you don’t have to see it. I’m sorry you have to deal with this, but I think really at this point you kinda just have to grow some thick skin and take it when it comes. I doubt SD will do much, if anything about it.

Wish you the best though!

(deftMoon) #17

This is sad. Sadly, if that were my case, i wouldnt act to mature as you did and I would start a voice chat fight immediately. Again, SD doesnt care. prob nothing will happen.

Plus, i wouldve threatened his family

It’s SD and Nexon. Following their laws in their game. Not Australian laws.
If he is back again, then in Nexons eyes what he is doing is not bad enough to grant him a permanent ban. Does not matter if you make petitions or whatsoever. It’s enough to report him once. And if this one report is made well enough and Nexon actually sees that he is crossing a line for a permanent ban, he will get banned. They have their rules. And they can’t ban people forever just because many people want to do so.

“they can’t ban people forever just because many people want to do so” ok, lets imagine your logic somewhere else… say on a bus full of people… lets say there is one obnoxious guy abusing people, calling people names, threatening people… 70% of that bus demand he gets kicked off the bus… but the bus driver doesn’t have to… and by your logic shouldn’t… do you see now how dumb it is to say that “they can’t ban people forever just because many people want to do so”

You are right, they don’t have to, but its actually in THEIR best interest getting rid of toxic players. After all, they are a business trying to make money and the net result of these toxic players is people quitting the game.

(Jostabeere) #20

Throwing someone off a bus is not permanently banning him from using all buses.

There is not a strict rule to ban people permanent for being rude just because 50 people want him to be permanent banned from the game. That’s why Nexon can’t ban him without doing minor penalties first and watch over his behavior after that.

You assume that a random player is the one who was banned. Should Nexon ban someone just because a random player abuses you and you think it’s this jim?

Please answer this question: Have you seen jim in person being in the game, griefing and verbally abusing players after his timed ban with the exact same steam account?

And this one: Did you report the player who abuses you to the support, or was the only step you did creating this thread?
