Should shadows be a part of MP?

(wviperw) #1

The basic question is, should shadows play a role in multiplayer matches, and specifically competitive multiplayer matches? Yes, it is ultimately the mapper’s choice whether or not to include shadows/dark corners, but that is not what I’m asking. I’m asking, from a gameplay POV, do shadows bring anything new to the table, or will they simply make for long boring matches?

I started a similar discussion here.

We were discussing that in here too. Some good examples from k^2 and tequila on how use of light can add to the game. A general assumption that shadowy camp spots detract…

Err… I feel like an idiot. I saw that thread, but never looked at it because I didn’t equate dynamic lighting to shadows. Am off to read that thread now.

Is there a way I can delete this thread?

I think if you’ll click edit on your first post, it will give you a delete option somewhere.

Edit: I’ve edited the title, by the way, to make it more clear.
