Having matches 5v5, personally, I love it. As you’re a small group you need to work together and decide on strategies. Organise who is going to take what Merc and flank on which route etc. There’s much more purpose to every member.

My issue with solo queues is that when it has reached the maximum skill range, from experience, the match up gets really bad if the wait time exceeds 3Mins4Sec in searching for a match. The best balanced game that was highly contested was found between 2 and a half minutes, but I reckon that was due to the luck of having people playing at the same time. More frequently, I get matched up with players who are either fresh from the tutorial or just absolutely clueless when it comes to game objectives. They still cling hard to the concept of Team Death Match no matter how much I tell them to hold a position or guard the EV/Objective. The time it takes to communicate with them is a takes a fair bit as they may raise issues like “I want to play Vassili because…” or “I just had a shiny new Rhino loadout so I’m gonna play that”; they might have priorities besides playing well with the team so I give them enough room hoping they can perform well with their chosen class. More often, they just tend to be the one dragging the team and blaming the rest when things go bad. Sadly, with 3 mercs in the squad, I’m frequently performing the defensive medic. At times, when things get really uncoordinated in the first 5 minutes of the match, someone will just give up and call for a “Surrender”. At one occasion, we were less than 5 seconds away from victory, and the typical A 5 5 H 0 L 3 called for surrendering the match. I have no idea what was going through his mind, but it’s the type I don’t want to be matched up with the next time.
When I paired up with one of my friends, it was a different experience. We strategised ahead on what roles after a Stopwatch warm up. It worked because we got lucky 1 person in the group of 5 was able to read our gameplay and effectively complement us, while the others were just tagging along for the win. It didn’t go without a hitch though (I had a nagging out-of-bounds error mid match). So perhaps in the future, a trio can be allowed to search rather than just a solo/duo party system.
How about for Execution, opp forces alternate between Defence and Offence instead of changing sides after 6 rounds? This allows for a more even variation and can avoid 6-nil outcome in the match.
