I would love to know what others think but the way I see it the dev’s shouldn’t be rewarding players with a chance to get a kill after they lost a gun fight because from the other players point of view they’re being punished for playing well.
Should martyrdom be a mechanic...
If the winner of the gunfight dies to the martyrdom, they probably weren’t playing well. As they get better they will learn to escape and avoid martyrdoms, and then they will be rewarded for playing well.
I used to think like you OP, then I adapted, still sometimes the naders trip me up though, when im not concentrating.
I rarely get any martyrdom kills anymore it sucks! Even when I do a suicide run on the back side of a downed EV that has a heal/ammo station behind it. Experienced players know to just gtfo.
Which makes it oh so satisfying when I run into inexperienced players >:)
Otherwise I’m forced to use it situationally, like hopefully I died just around a corner and an unaware enemy runs around it.
I will quote a fellow forum member: “Martyrdom is not a reward for dying, it is a compensation prize for being inferior”.
I gotta say, whenever one of my mates started playing Dirty Bomb they went furious whenever they got killed by Martyrdom.
And I agreed at the beginning.
Now I can’t even remember the last time I got killed by Martyrdom because I went for the gib or something like that.
You’ll get used to it !
my main problem with it is that it has no cool down and it has quite a large range so if you fight in a hall way its kinda hard to get away from it
Personally I feel like it wouldn’t be as bad if instead of dropping Fragger Nades, it dropped Nader’s nades, and how many it drops depends on how many you had in reserve when you died.
This way it does actually punish you for using it and can be rather unpredictable, she becomes a living cluster grenade…or dead, whatever.
Once you learn to recognize that you fought a Nader and know now to instantly try to knife gib them and how to long jump away if you were in a CQC fight then you rarely ever get hit by it. I can go hours and hours of play and never get touched by Martyrdom because I’ve learned, like man (and the hard way), to pay attention to not only the fight but what merc I am fighting.
Martyrdom, much like Proxy mines or fighting stationary Rhino’s, is something that you eventually learn to easily deal with after you get more experience.
Its not op, or really even that much of an issue to be honest. But I dont like it.
The thing with martyrdom, when you lose it, you lose the chance of getting revived, which could take up to twenty seconds.
^ as the above comment stated, as a sparks main I hate wasting time charging a shot for a Nader who’s body will be in pieces by the time the revive gun bolt hits her. - In some cases, you can actually revive her AS her suicide bomb goes off - gibbing her despite the revive. While not imbalanced in any way, especially post-gib-nerf, martyrdom lacks the killing power it used to. I see no reason for its removal, even if it can be annoying now and then. Combating it usually means resisting the urge to knife a recently-downed player.
I see a lot of Naders martyrdom right after dying. As a Nader main, I don’t know why people do this. In a hugging distance 1v1 combat, it’s fine, but after being sniped? (in recent updates, you will no longer be insta gibbed) Uggghhhhhh, this is why Nader seems like a stupid merc to some people, I swear.
