When I first tried it, I got into matches in 5-15 minutes, but now whenever I play ranked(during peak hours, mind you) I can wait 45 minutes to a few hours and not get into a single match. I think the main problem is how few people are doing ranked mode at the moment.

The main challenge in ranked is not handling the skilled players on the other team, it’s carrying the less skilled players on your team. Apart from its general deficits, matchmaking has to do with what it has so most teams have a very wide skill range regularly spawning from unranked to upper gold.
