I’ve been playing for over 100hrs now and have almost hit lvl 12. I have 40k and my squad currently consists of phoenix, bushwacker and fragger. I have recently been taking a look at rhino to replace fragger. I feel confident with my gunplay and as I play very aggressively he would suit my playstyle. Thoughts on him have been ranging from utter crap to ‘OP! OMG NERF!’. Please could you explain your thoughts, and thanks for your time.
(Yes I have seen kAndyrew’s ‘is it worth it’ but I find the series not particualry helpful because he’s vague with his answers: he often says “So is MERC worth it? Well kinda of…” so I thought you guys could give me a hand)
Also how do I add a poll???
Should I buy rhino?
Just forget everyone’s opinion, and think the following : “Do he fit my playstyle ?”.
If yes, go for it. If you’re not sure, wait for a free rotation to try him and make your own opinion. Don’t let anyone influence you.

Fragger is better in more situations. You’ll excel in some situations with Rhino but he’s definitely more specialized. Where Fragger is just a beast in pretty much all situations. I play Rhino to troll with but he’s definitely only a fun choice and not a “I want to win” choice. You’ll see people be upset with Rhino on pubs but that’s simply because they haven’t learned how easy it is to beat them and will charge headfirst into a clearly heard and spun up minigun. He’s also a bullet magnet as he draws attention and his hitbox is huge.
I’m not saying that you should not consider buying him…but know what you’re getting into first. He won’t be great in all areas of all maps and you’ll have to do more than simply sit in a room on an aura station to succeed with him and not be bored to tears in a pub.

Thanks!
Against skilled playes, hino isn’t that geat. Fo pubstomping, hino is tailo-made fo this vey thing.
Imagine being the type of person who mains Rhino. Don’t be that person.
He’s outclassed by Fragger, is a slow merc in a fast game, and sucks the fun out of anything he’s in just by his design alone. It’s Heavy syndrome from TF2.
Buy Rhino if you want people to verbally abuse you and call you a scrub when you play him, people will most definitely accuse you of cheap kills.
Edit: I learnt the hard way.
TBH i think that rhino’s just a waste of money cuz i don’t like him and his only strenght is CQC and extreme CQC and at mid range his weapons aren’t as good so yiu’d have to get close to you’r enemy to kill them fast.
I’d recomend you to wait untilk he’s on a rotation and try him out.

This is so true it’s unreal. @scarfino streams quite a bit and does the whole, “Church of Rhino” thing and gets people salty as hell both in ranked MM and pubs. People will even come into his channel to moan and groan about it and not realize that it’s being done entirely to troll. Also, Scarfino can’t aim for crap so Rhino helps that
He’ll drop 35-40 kills and get people riled where somebody else could drop 60+ on Fragger and there is nary a peep out of them.
He is specifically good defending the first and last objectives in Bridge, and the generator room in Underground. Other than that not much. I find him kinda boring to play as I like to flank my opponents, and when I manage to do it with him I end up wishing I was Fragger, Nader or a fire support so I could just explode them all and be done with it. Rhino and Phantom are the only mercs I don’t own just because getting missions for them is annoying.

my aim is amazing shut up.
Can you imagine how great it’d be if Rhino was actually viable, didn’t have boring ass abilities, and was fun to play in such a fast game? One day, Rhino, one day. Amazing voice acting wasted on such a terrible merc.
I play a lot of Fragger and recently started playing a lot of Rhino. Rhino is a side grade. Fragger is more adaptable overall and generally a better pick but there are certain situations that Rhino shines in (barrier control on underground for example).
My squad is usually Fragger Rhino Phoenix. If I have to I swap out Rhino or Phoenix for Sawbonez/Bushwacker/Fletcher
Rhino’s that sit in the control room are so freaking easy to kill. They are pretty terrible in there if you know what you’re doing.
@Amerika Just a couple of nader of nader nades, fletcha stickies or simply a good flank with strafing left and right and the rhino’s gone.

Fragger is a well rounded merc that can be used in pretty much any map or game mode he has decent speed and health. Rhino on the other hand is more like a tank who is very slow but makes up for that In his immense health. But rhino is only good in maps which involves a lot of close quarter combat such as underground and terminal. People tend to make the mistake of using rhino on very large and open maps such as trainyard or chapel. Overall I would suggest fragger but in the end it all comes down to your playstyle so give both a try when they come in free rotation.
