Should Execution is to stay, how would you want it to be changed?

As of right now, Execution (I shall shorten it to Exec) plays like Counter Strike without armour and in-game economy, and with abilities, different health pools, revives, so on and so forth. For me, the core gameplay of DB means lifting Exec straight off the standard Defuse mode doesn’t work at all due to the reasons just listed above: CS didn’t have one team being wiped just coming off the spawn by a death laser, or an airstrike, or an entire team bringing itself back from the dead, or players planting/defusing significantly faster than others because they picked engineers, so on and so forth.

So if we are to keep a high stakes, limited lives, round-based, multiple choice (plant/defuse/murder) gamemode in the game, how would you envision this new and improved Exec?

Personally I think it was fine as is… The biggest complaint was that big explosives were too OP and you’d get them immediately. So? change the cool downs for that mode then.

While I don’t think it really needed to be changed, I’d still like to see other game modes. Something like Capture the Flag, but tweaked to fit Dirty Bomb… It could be be 2 bases, and 1 carriable objective in each team for the other to steal.

It isn’t a simple issue of capturing it and returning it to your base however, as bases would likely be guarded with things like mounted guns… and actually scoring a capture would require time to pass with the enemy’s objective in place… sort of like a hack timer.

First one to score 3 hacks wins.

I think it would be hilarious and awesome to have one carry able objective in the middle of the map and each team tries to steal it and run it the the enemy side

Remove three Merc limit from execution, give three lives for each round.

I think that many players like the push and ebb and flow of the modes other than Exec. You die and you get to watch the others play until the match ends. Many will just quit and lose exp out of bordom.

Snake beat me to it! Explosives are/were insane in Execution. People keep talking about the laser and airstrikes, but Fragger’s nade, Nader’s launcher, and Fletcher’s stickies were the most OP equipment in the gamemode (don’t even get me started on Proxy’s mines). The maps are narrow and you’ll often find yourself in tight corridors to get to the objective. This created a lot of immediate and timed explosives at these locations.

Biggest example would be Market where if you go left to A, you’ll have to channel your entire team through a small turn where explosive mercs ruled. Now, the easiest way to beat this without retreating is to use a fast merc like Kira and rush to A as quickly as possible. Kira was always the most effective here because if you could long jump out of the building and drop a laser quickly enough, you can wipe the other team if they’re anywhere near A.

Anyways, replacing Execution with another gamemode like CTF would be nice. I hate having only one option when playing DB. Don’t get me wrong, Obj/Stopwatch is fun, but a change of pace or something different occasionally is better.
