Should certain mercs be tweaked slightly for Execution mode?

(sentimentalDime) #1

So, i’ve been playing some Execution lately, and i have noticed some things that are perfectly balanced in Objective mode, are really not that balanced in Execution mode.

Take Rhino, i was able to consistently go around the whole map, come from behind, and kill half the enemy team in one go. So Rhino really becomes a must if this game mode was intended to be competetive.

So here lies the question.

no, we will not balance the game after what you can do against the poor lvl 1s

(sentimentalDime) #3

@ostmustis
Well, as you can see from the picture, teams, in terms of levels at least, were pretty well balanced

(ostmustis) #4

that screenshot doesnt show anything that supports your claim. it only that you had an unbalanced game.

but ok, they werent lvl 1s >_<

I wouldn’t want the mercs to be changed for another gamemode, but with another reason:

Consistency.

Ok, what i was trying to say, in regular OBJ mode Rhino is very reliant on a medic, but in Execution, because you only get 1 life, and he has that crazy killing power, i would say he’s borderline OP.

No, out of principle.

  1. If you start modifying mercs, you’re balancing two games at once. It’s bad enough that only one character carries the bomb.
  2. If Execution has different rules, it’s crap at teaching new players the game. You come to Objective or Stopwatch and it turns out what you’ve been told is wrong.

Rhino in Execution - Execution has very open maps, something Rhino is not very fond of. A level 25+ Rhino player smashing a team of single digit levels doesn’t prove much.

@jazevec
While that is true to some extent, i found that usually, nobody was covering the open areas.

One thing I noticed about Excecution mode is the maps have much more space. Which is likely to attract a lot of snipers. But when it comes to Rhino and Shotgun mercs, they become ineffective at distance. If I hear Rhino coming I make sure I get some distance. Also rushing in groups can take him down quite quickly. I guess the mode needs to be played a lot more, then OP mercs will be more noticeable, because of the amount of people using them.

(DMaster2) #10

Nope, they are fine as they are.

(Edzer) #11

Don’t really care since stopwatch is the competitive mode, if they decide to make a competitive version of execution then yes.

Rhino atleast, on Market he is broken with the tight corners he can hide at and spray you down like on way to b he can stand on the roof looking down wrecking anyone who tries to come. Aswell on way to A in the tight choke points.

(DarkangelUK) #13

Please don’t use single game, edge case scenarios to prove your point. I play Execution a lot and Rhino’s can be quite the hindrance with slow movement and slow plant/disarm ability. You need players that know how to counter him… using examples of when a team don’t know how to play against him as a reason to nerf really isn’t being true to the game.

(sentimentalDime) #14

@DarkangelUK
I played several matches where this happened, this was just to only i decided to take a screenshot of.

Any team without Phoenix has a severe disadvantage in Execution mode.

(Jostabeere) #16

The whole goddamn Phoenix army needs to go. Every team has 2-5 Phoenixes.
I’m for a max. 2 mercs per team restriction there.

(Proxy) #17

Counter Rhino in Execution? PLEASE, that is nonexistant in this gamemode as he is protected by his team 9/10 times. Aswell being hard to hit with nades etc as you really need to not get rekt by his teammates aswell hit him which is hard.

(Szakalot) #18

Rhino is definitely strong in execution but hardly unbreakable. Just have to use the map against them, they cannot realign to flank quickly enough; take your team around the rhino encampment and he is out of position. or keep distance and spam explosives.

(LifeupOmega) #19

Rhino a must in a competitive environment? Lol no. In a competitive game people actually communicate.

Execution is a joke anyway. It’ll never be competitive.

(SteelMailbox) #20

Only if the balance will affect execution only.
