Summoning @Eox as he had a magnificent picture presentation hidden somewhere in this forum how shotgun spread functions.
All in all it was more of a weird star instead of symmetrical hexagon / whatever-gon as it should be for more consistency. None of the pellets seem to hit the exact middle, which is weird. If I recall right of the star- shape, that’d explain why neck would be most efficent place to aim: highest pellet hits head, rest go mostly to body. Opposing to aiming at head which results in highest and side pellets go to waste more often (depending on range obviously).
On side not, sheesh the search function is absolute bollocks.
WHO DARES TO STOP MY SLUMBER !?.. Oh hi @bonsta
I sadly don’t have that pic anymore. However I can confirm that shotguns have a star shaped pattern. That pattern is made from 11 pellets (12 for Remburg), making headshots pretty unreliable past point blank. It’s indeed wiser to aim for the neck and hope that the upper pellets will hit the head.
aye, and in that context shotgun shots are pretty consistent. Imo whoever thinks they aren’t is spamming jump so much they do not notice how abysmal the accuracy gets mid-air.
