I have a problem with the Swiss Red camo, on both mercs and guns. For the most part it looks good – chrome red on black is absolute sexiness.
But holy crap what is with the random Forest Camo splotches on the weapons and mercs? I honestly cannot even stand to use Swiss Red cards, because the completely out-of-place Forest Camo is both hideous and liable to trigger an OCD flareup with its random dispersion and just how unfitting it is.
Am I the only one who finds this a problem? Please, tell me with the poll.
But Alpenflage has aesthetical beauty with green, ORANGE, BROWN and yellow. Autumn leaves, Y’know. Not metallic-red, black and green. The green patches in combination of red sting human eyes, like green-red combinations everywhere.

what is with the random Forest Camo splotches
Y’know
This one called “Swiss” for reason
As @Jostabeere said, I would have no problem with a camo like the one you posted if Swiss Red ACTUALLY looked like that. It doesn’t though. It looks like red and black with fleckles of vomit all over it.
If you like it it’s fine, you have a right to that opinion, but I just think it looks nothing like that picture.
That is EXACTLY what bothers me, let alone I don’t care about skins. But if that is fixed, I’ll definitely go for gold swiss but right now it’s just not mixed enough, just that random colored splotches ._.
Aesthetically, yes. I would prefer a clean red on black. However, the camo pattern on “Swiss” is the Alpenflage, without the forest element of it, it is no longer “Swiss”, just red and black.
If the camo was red and black only, what happens with the enemy variant which is supposed to be significantly brighter than the friendly one? You have to keep both variants in mind before talking about reducing the color palette.
I had literally no clue what alpenflage even was before this thread, and I presume the same for 99% of DB’s playerbase outside of Switzerland.
As such, I think this is no real excuse, either cut it or go whole hog.
If the camo was red and black only, what happens with the enemy variant which is supposed to be significantly brighter than the friendly one? I understand that your work on the Genome project likely makes you much more qualified to opinion on this than me, but again, I don’t think we should be making excuses for its ugliness.
You could make the black gray and the red pink-ish on the enemy vaiant. Or just add more woodland camo so it looks less like flecks of vomit. I don’t care. I just want something I can look at without feeling revulsion.

Hold your horses there buddy. We’re not giving excuses, we’re giving reasons. The fact that you didn’t know what Alpenflage is doesn’t excuse the fact that it is Alpenflage.
There’s no definitive statement that it is ugly. You think it’s ugly, others do not. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
It isn’t Alpenflage just as much as my 1999 Saturn isn’t a 2015 Mercedes. It looks essentially nothing like actual Alpenflage, more instead like a drunken impression of Alpenflage doodled by a blind man.
Over half the people who voted have said that they’d like to see it changed. The most common concern of those who like it is that it would lose its (rather nonexistant) identity as Alpenflage. Fine, as I said before, just add more Forest pattern to it in a more thoughtful manner and boom, problem solved for both camps.
It’s unacceptable to settle for such poorly-designed camos in a game who’s monetization revolves around camos. This poll has shown what some people would like changed and others would like to stay the same, so let’s try and fix the issue instead of embracing a camo that looks half-baked and indecisive.

“Half baked and indecisive”. Were you expecting an actual mirror representation of the Alpenflage. It’s based off the Alpenflage, it’s name is Swiss - there’s nothing indecisive about it.
Don’t get me wrong, I’d like a nice Red/Black skin too, but that doesn’t change the fact that there would be complications to deal with if we were to just plain and simple rip out an entire component of a skin.

But is has a massive difference to Alpenflage. Can we even call it Alpenflage if it isn’t Alpenflage?
@gg2ez
I honestly don’t even know what you’re trying to say anymore. It’s indecisive because it’s covered in tiny splotches rather than full pattern, like, I dunno, actual Alpenflage? I don’t understand why I’m repeating myself, it looks like a laughably poor impression where the devs took the red/black pattern and half-assed some flecks of Forest camo onto it.
And even that’s besides the point because it simply looks unappealing to, again, over 50% of the voters.
And now you’re saying you would actually like a red/black skin, but there’d be “complications”. It’s a beta. The texture artists have working brains. People find the splotches sketchy. So, you correct the issue by either adding more pattern, removing it, or otherwise just improving the skin.
If you just want to argue for the sake of arguing, then PM me. I’m not interested in cluttering my own thread with irrelevent back-and-forths about imaginary “complications” and the precise definition of what is and what isn’t Alpenflage.
