how can i get a shadow for my tree model?
i have tryed the search button
put these into your model(s)
key: _cs
value: 1
to able them ro receive shadows put:
key _rs
value 1
edit typo in receive part…
do i have to put these in my models to?
key _rc
value 1
btw, i need the shadows of the tree’s on my terrain
_cs = cast shadows
_rs = receive shadows
So if you want to see shadows of your trees on your terrain you need to use the _cs key. You don’t have to use both keys at the same time but could give your tree model the _rs key to receive shadows from something else in your map (i.e. a building casting shadows).
All clear? Those values are only for entities to cast/receive shadows (worldspawn excluded).
i have put these key into my worldspawn
key _minlight
value 50
and these into my tree models
key _cs
value 1
and i don’t get one single shadow of my tree’s wtf ?
I had that same problem and that was because the surface (terrain) the shadows should have been cast had too high lightmap scale. Try to lower your terrains lightmap scale. Ok now your are thinking that this man must be nuts wtf is lightmap scale… well it is just samekind of key you inserted into your models… it is just in terrain you add:
key _lightmapscale
value 0.5
The value 1 is the default, the 0.5 is twice as high. tweak it to be best result of quality and size.
didn’t it increase lightmap quality (choppyness of shadows) or didn’t
it make your trees cast shadows? being more specific really could help.
‘it doesn’t work’ is not easy to work with.
i have put these key into my worldspawn
key _minlight
value 50
and these into my tree models
key _cs
value 1
that didn’t work
then i added
key _lightmapscale
value 0.5
in my terrain
that didn’t work either
