SG1945_V2_CatC, problems

(Zozz) #1

Has anyone tried running this map on a server before? We’ve tried running it on our linux server…and it worked fine up until the allies started to move the truck. Once the truck started moving, there was some very massive lag until the truck was past truck barrier 1.

I tried running it on a windows server though and it worked perfectly. Does anyone have a fix for this, or know what’s going on? I like this map a lot better than the original Stargate_1945…would love to get it running :expressionless:

what does the CatC mod do that is different?

(Zozz) #3

CatC is the name of the author of V2. It’s a bit different than the regular Stargate_1945…this version has ring teleporters, and several different access points to various parts of the base.

I really liked the first Stargate map, I still think it’s a really good map, dunno why it isn’t played more?
Anyway, I didn’t realise there was a new version of it, will have to give it a go.

You asked about problems with this map and yes I believe there is problems, I tried to run it on a 55 man server and the map took the server down, i believe it has to do with to many (enitys) in this map.

(Zozz) #6

I don’t understand why it will run on a windows server with no problems…but if you try running it on Linux, you get massive lag when the truck starts to move. It spams the console with an error message…can’t remember exactly what it said, but it was something about com_sprintf and 6 bytes overflow or something

(Ifurita) #7

More people don’t play it because the original map featured a dyno only gate which could be rebuilt too easily (and from cover) and featured concrete piercing mines

(eRRoLfLyNN) #8

Lol I remember that Ifurita, I remember that being very annoying, but apart from that it was a really nice map to play, especially once the ALlies were abale to steal the tank. I always thought that mapper was going to release a new version that fixed the mineable road and the gate that could be built superfast. People could jump over the walls too though. Great fun on a pub.

(Chruker) #9

And some of the rock above the tunnel entrance wasn’t clipped properly, so an FO could hide in there calling artillery on the enemy spawn.

(eRRoLfLyNN) #10

Who made that map anyway?

Here is the a cut-n-paste from the readme file in the original Star Gate map:

agreed, it was fun once (if) the allies stole the tank. Unfortuantely, on most games, that never happened so the allies were left getting pummeled outside the gates for 30 minutes - not a whole lot of fun IMO. I did write a short script mod that makes the gate satchelable, which seems like it balances out the map a lot more

(Zozz) #13

This version that I’m talking about has an already damaged, unrepairable gate. There is also a side access into the tank depot, which comes out opposite side of where Axis spawn (behind the truck).

(eRRoLfLyNN) #14

I must get a play on that. But everyone seems to have a problem getting it to work on their server?

makes the gate grenadable.

I know this is a dead thread but I have to bring it back to ask a few questsions, firstly is it just me that has the star gate problem where if you go though it one side then back through you end up underwater under the map with no way to move? If so then how do I fix this and why doesnt someone edit this (with the creators permssion) and put out a new version.

(G0-Gerbil) #17

Yay I remember playing this and hating it immediately - the mines and the gate were stupid beyond belief.
Shame really, since apart from that it was ok.
Seems like the ‘fix’ needs a fix.

Again, a shame, because my ears perked up once I’d heard the damn gate thing was sorted :frowning:
