Severe Mouse Problems since SS3/MOFO

(n-x) #1

Does anyone have similar problems since SS3/MOFO?

-Main Weapon keeps shooting
-If you switch from main weapon to secondary weapon and immediately start shooting, you switch back to main weapon
-Main Weapon is not firing
-Defibs immediately release after you start charging even you keep the button pressed and keep just bursting out the minimal revives
-Defibs keep stuck and keep charging. You cant even change to weapon or cancel it somehow else.

I think the Defibs have always been a bit dodgy and buggy. But the first 3 have never happened to me before SS3/MOFO. Especially the one with the fast weapon switching happens to me at least 1-2 times per game. Like I said, It has never happened before to me in several 100 hours playing before SS3. It could be that my mouse broke exactly with the SS3. but this is more than unlikely.

do you have “extra devices” that your OS can detect as Human Interface Device like game pad attached to your computer?

(n-x) #3

@K1X455 No, nothing. And nothing changed on my end. It was suddenly there after the patch. In the meantime I have even changed my OS and formated my PC (note because of DB) and the Problems still persist.

I once had a problem with Phoenix healing pulse getting stuck while I was holding a keyboard key (hold time to increase pulse strength) but I released it with a click of the LMB

Similar issue discussed here and on [url=“https://www.reddit.com/r/Dirtybomb/comments/5esaiw/stop_sporks_charge_again/”]Reddit

@K1X455 Phoenix’ Pulse has been dodgy since the introduction of the merc. I think that is something different.

@pumpkinmeerkat Thx for the links. But I am pretty sure my problem with the weapon switching back came with SS3. The Problem with Sparks are related to this"Holding down the fire key and then switching to an ability will now activate that ability" which was part of the MOFO Update.

What mouse do you use?

What keyboard?

Any driver updates or software changes to anything you have?

Did you try a fresh install?

Cause this issue is way out there, and I have hard time believing it’s related to Dirty Bomb

@Watsyurdeal

I have a Roccat Lua and a Logitech G15. I repeat. The only thing that changed on my end was downloading the patch for DB.

(n-x) #10

Just to add to it. Weapon not shooting and weapon keeps shooting are really rare and I have heart it from others that it can happen from time to time.

But the switch back to the main weapon is so damn frequently and no one I know has this problem.

(Nail) #11

kinda sounds like a hardware problem, could be usb related

(watsyurdeal) #12

Yea, that’s literally the only thing I can think of.

Otherwise we’d all be having the same issue, try getting a cheap mouse or fishing one of your old ones out and seeing if the problem is still there.

Other people are experiencing some of the same problems. They were really common right after the update, but some of the issues have been alleviated, at least for me anyways. Weapons not firing is related to the update as far as I know, but I thought it was fixed with the patch. Weapon switching has been buggy for a while now and I’m not even sure what the new updates did to it. Personally, I use my mouse wheel for switching and I know for a fact that’s really buggy. Doesn’t work properly sometimes.

I haven’t paid enough attention to the bugs lately, but I guess I should so I can report them :stuck_out_tongue:

If you use ability (ability, not quick ability) and then deploy the ability using mouse1, often you will automatically switch to your knife and knife your deployable in the back straight after putting it down. It’s a bug with the latest update, I don’t even know if it’s been reported, but it’s annoying.

(n-x) #15

@Sploosh I also use mouse wheel for weapon switch. Whats buggy for you?

(iSucrose) #16

it has happen to me twice where my gun starts shooting on its own, also where my gun wont shoot at all.

(KUST__LunarTM) #17

@Kelben @Sploosh Maybe try just using the number keys instead? I find that sometimes the scroll wheel will switch weapons multiple times.

(tzurlogen) #18

The same thing is happening to me too after the update: sometimes the gun shoots by itself and sometimes it doesn’t shoot at all.
I’m playing on an Asus ROG G771JW laptop with an Asus ROG GX850 mouse.
It doesn’t happen often, but it’s pretty annoying when it does.

(ImSploosh) #19

Just various things like weapons not switching (still unsure of the reason for this, but probably has something to do with switching, then shooting, and then trying to switch again. There’s also the issue of switching twice with the mouse wheel although I’ve only made one scroll. These kind of bugs generally aren’t too noticeable, but can get annoying for me.

I just prefer the mouse wheel for switching. I’ve always used it for every game and never had any problems. I’ll deal with the bugs and keep using it just out of habit and I find it easier.

When I first started playing, November of last year, I didn’t have any of these problems. So I’m not sure if they appeared after one of the updates or what. Just didn’t pay that much attention haha.

I have had auto shooting problem as far as I have played, ~1 year. It really drives me mad and already broke 2 mouses, because thought it was an HW issue. In normal playing it’s very random, but I can usually reproduce it by opening scoreboard and clicking 2nd/right mouse button. Viewing someone’s Steam profile triggers it almost every time, so I never use scoreboard features.
