seta I_want_lower_fps "125"

(Zakk Sayonara) #1

Maybe this guestion is there smwhr already…

but how to cap fps? com_maxfps doesnt work. My gfx cards run very hot bcs of ridiculous high fps which i want lower. If Im reducing graphics ofc fps climbs even higher so it reduces heat about 3-5 C. So is there way to cap fps?

(MrLevi) #2

I’d like to know this too. My fps fluctuates quite a bit, it would be nice to keep it a bit steadier.

(General_Zod) #3

Just enable vsync, then it’s capped to your refresh of your monitor. Not exactly the same as what you’re after, but should do the job. Personally, I don’t know how anyone prefers vsync off…

(MrLevi) #4

I can’t stand vsync, otherwise I might.

(General_Zod) #5

Just curious, why do you prefer tearing? Such an eye sore.

(Wepohn) #6

Having v-sync enabled can make the mouse less responsive.

(MrLevi) #7

This. I’ve either never had or never been able to notice tearing. I DO notice when my aim gets messed up though.

vsync + tripple buffering = no delay… but I guess polling rate has something to do with that delay. I mean when I used Intellimouse Explorer, which is 125 Hz optical mouse, the delay was notizeable even if tripplebuffering was on. With 1000 Hz polling rate (laser mouse) I dont see any delay. Thanks for that Zod. I notized the game runs even smoother now when no fps varying.

Hi zakk, please tell me you have an ATI card.
That would make my day.

(xTriXxy) #10

is it possible to fix FPS to 90 or 60 for example?

Why? Shouldn’t ATI cards run over 120fps? My hd4850 gets 90-120fps and it’s an old&slow card so surely someone gets even more.

(TheSgtBilko) #12

Bring back com_maxfps .

(raib) #13

bump

also stop suggesting vsync, fps caps have been a staple feature in fps’s forever for a reason

(3|K) #14

My graphic card will burn if someone not fix com_maxfps…

I agree, i’m a fan of options, the more options the better. But some people may not be aware that vsync is a viable way to limit your FPS. So it’s still a valid suggestion, even if temporary.

(eLuSiVeMiTe) #16

Having to use vsync at the moment due to uncapped fps too.
Get higher temps in the menus than I do in game.

(raib) #17

It’s better than nothing, but should be only a temporary fix until fps can be capped. Vsync causes some considerable mouse lag.

Also game still runs like **** on ati cards

(jaydawg) #18

Are you getting those FPS in Brink and if so, How because I don’t think I am getting that with every thing turned down and I have a 4850 1gb x 4850 1gb

Can’t wait for Crossfire support…

Hi there. Sry I have an nVidia:) GTX570 SLI. Sometimes fps were over 630 and even if fans were running at 4170 rpm the temps were over 95 C. Now with vsync+tripple buffering the game rly runs great and pretty smooth at 120 fps, and cooler, oh and mouse movements are as perfect as without vsync. Now temps stays a bit under 60 C. Talking about that possible overheating I rly rly wondering why didnt they think about that when they worked on the game. Capping fps is MUST option.

(crazyfoolish) #20

Yeah me too. Anyone know why that is. I haven’t even checked my fps yet. I’m guessing about 40 :(. I just have a 560.
