set sv_brushmodel 0???

(twt_thunder) #1

when i try to compile my map and devmap it…ET stops and says : set sv_brushmodel 0

(-SSF-Sage) #2

That is the oldest and most common bug. There are tons of search results.

(twt_thunder) #3

well, couldn’t figure it out…tried all of the stuff i could find…lucky i had a backup of the map…so i just went some steps back in the progress so now it works again…

it will happen again… always does. personally i didn’t map for long time and i already forgot solution.

You have a brush without faces, open the .map in notepad or something and go look for a brush without sides

(-SSF-Sage) #6

uuh… That is not even possible. The problem is probably, if you use 1.5.0 that you have an empty entity (no brushes in an entity that needs brushes, like func_explosive). This happens when you delete only the brushes without using the entitylist (L) to delete the entity too. Or then you have an entity with only origin brush. These are the most probable solutions.

(Paul) #7

Yeah sorry sage, what you said is sort of what I meanted XD

(merlin1991) #8

1 more possible thing (apart from empty entitys and origin only)

if you build a func_door_rotating without an origin brush you get the error too

I find the most common cause (for me), when you create a trigger_multiple and then delete it, it’s not actually gone.
Press L and look for a trigger multiple without an attatched brush, probably the same for a func_explosive as the others described
It’s easy to spot since all the others have an arrow next to it.
Anyway once you found it click on it and press ctrl-tab, then you are looking at it in your 2D viewer, it should be just a name on the origin of your map, if this is the case press backspace and now it’s really gone
and so is the error

It’s exactly same thing I described. And it happens to every entity that requires brushes.

(stealth6) #11

your sig says it all

hehe must of looked over it :o

(twt_thunder) #12

hey dudes, encountered this again and i removed origin brush of a door and everything went back to normal… so i guess i will kill the origin brushes from now on first as they are easy to put in back again later

When an entity has ONLY an origin brush, you will encounter this error aswell.
