SERVER RULES: Casual vs Veteran

(meat) #41

I don’t care if your playing the casual, or the veteran server a unbalanced game plain sucks for one team. I was playing the veteran UK last night and after a round on attackers on Camden, when a player on the other team said “that was FUN” I left. Attackers never even got the first objective and it was a freaking slaughter. I politely said It was fun for 1 team and left. A way to shuffle the teams is definitely needed, even a admin shuffle would work at this point, but you would have to hand out admin privileges to a few responsible players because the stacks always seem to happen when nobody from SD is around. The problem would be finding responsible players because obviously the stacks are fun for some of the players. The only player I have seen ask if someone wants to switch in a unbalanced game so far is Iwound. And you get the rare player like Inferno who will switch mid game to help out the balance.

As someone else said stacked teams doesn’t help test the playability of the maps it just helps skew the data for ECHO. Its not helping SD with tweaking the maps or game play. Shouldn’t have to point this out to a bunch of (cough) Veteran players!

I will politely type ‘!shuffle’ or ‘teams?’ etc. if teams are uneven and I usually find a player or two will step up to the mark, myself included if the other team is really desperate :). Unfortunately you will always get players who live to stack :(. I don’t understand it myself, a stacked game is boring and/or frustrating for both teams.

maybe players should be able to " perform a quirkafleeg". When the teams are stacked the losing team can forget the objective and still have some fun!

That was me, and the comment included a smiley, meaning I was joking.

When we switched sides I then said “our turn now, lube at the ready”, meaning I fully expected to be on the receiving end of the slaughter.

The only way to balance the teams in this scenario is a shuffle, because the numbers were equal and there was no clan stacking either.

Just an idea - To avoid the stack calls where they arent warranted, perhaps make a list of players based on internal stats (echo) so that newbie players can check the thread and see if they are playing a team full of beasts. The rank isnt a good indicator.

Or another idea might be to give the better players access to the new skins, so that way players know instantly in game.

Well the shuffle function needs to be added to the finished product. I play Pub servers and nothing empties a server like a good stack. If you have no chance to win why keep playing. Not sure if we will see a shuffle option before the game is released but, the sooner the better.

ps didn’t see the smiley, sorry:D

Balanced teams always makes for better battles. At this point in map making and we get better info and feedback from ECHO. For what its worth I try to keep things even and move myself when needed. Not that the team getting me will jump and cheer.

I never feel like a beast when my team is stacked and I’m rocking newbies. I only play these games because they are challenging. I figure most people stacking would feel the same? Scrims or clan wars are the place for that stuff anyway lol.

(Volcano) #49

if they did this thread wouldn’t exist

(LeeStyle) #50

No worries about team stacking from me, with the netcode in it’s current state while playing on UK the game isn’t worth wasting my time on. Since there is no NA scene i’ll play when it’s either resolved on UK like it use to be (able to register shots) or there is an NA scene available.

Maybe a Dev can explain how the netcode and the hitreg works, imo its very random atm, there are people which are very easy to hit and then there are others which i cant hit at all, even when they are standing still.

a little OT: How is the VG248QE?

Best gaming monitor I’ve owned, especially with LightBoost enabled.

(Mustang) #53

Shame it’s not 16:10 instead of 16:9, although I could get over this by getting the 27" model.

But why must all monitors have these mahoosive bezels… just why? :frowning:

I prefer 16:9 on a gaming monitor, 16:10 on a productivity monitor. 27" model is a 2ms panel, 24" is a 1ms panel which makes it considerably faster in LightBoost mode.

New invites send? Yesterday there were a lot of new players

fresh meat to fragg, yeah !

(Siru) #57

nice to hear about new player invites and i think the basic server rules are quite natural.
