So a friend of mine is wanting to set up a server for Brink. Ive read the Deducated Server FAQ but i still have a couple of quesitons that I need cleared up if possible. Firstly, will Brink have a ranked and unranked server system like in ETQW? I also was wondering whether hosting a server be completely free. I know that files can be downloaded and such, but will hosts still have to rent a server from hypernia for example? Sorry if this has been covered or are ‘noob’ quesitons. I really have no idea about server hosting but was trying to help my friend out as they are worried about the costs of a brink server

From what I’ve gathered, all servers are ranked. Also, the server binaries are completely free and standalone, therefore you don’t have to rent.

Have to? Not that I understand.
Should they? Well that depends on what kind of internet connection you’ve got, and whether you’ve got a computer lying around that can act as a server, and how many people you’re planning on playing with.
