Server performance

(Maddpadd) #1

Pings in-game are going crazy, I grabbed a couple of screenshots in this game after everyone’s ping went super high & it stayed like this for a few minutes till the server went back to normal?
Its becoming a regular thing & it really needs fixed.

yeah, ping has been a big issue lately. also a lot of lag and freezes as well :frowning: i see tons of people running into and staring at walls.

Seems especially bad at the moment (for East servers at least).

Joining servers that the browser shows single digit ping only to have consistent 100+ ping and all players lagging. Since the last update this has been an issue for a few servers but tonight every server I join seems to have the same issue.

(gg2ez) #4

You think high ping is bad? In AUS we get servers that just straight up sh*t themselves and boot everyone off the server.

(HunterAssassin5) #5

i think this is the third time i told people now, but once i had my ping jump back and forth between 56 and 988 in a closer-to-home ASIA server for some reason.

hell, i get better performance playing on EU servers with 200+ ping somehow

(srswizard) #6

Y’all think you have it bad, but try playing with the bullshit warping that I’m dealing with.
I’ll take disconnections over this blight that’s fucking up my aim and movement on the regular.

I hope they will do a proper maintenance and fix those issues before update.

Since the WTD update I have been suffering from players (not all but enough to ruin the game) teleporting from side to side when they strafe, it’s no good when you are trying to shoot them.
Ruins the game for me!

Players playing out of region is part of the problem (not having a go at you)

1.players using quick match are being put in the wrong region.
2.players from other regions dont have enough servers or player pool to find decent games end up joining out of region games via server browser.

So you end up with servers like this.
http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/355022414050034685/555D3CB00E5AA9CA2604A5893BE842F843C41DAE/

I had played a few rounds on this server & it was fine but eventually it ended up with four players joining that rocked pings over & above 200.
That server became a laggy mess with players teleporting all over & hit detection became poop!
(the two with pings over 800 on my team were from thailand according to their steam profiles)

Me personally, I’m getting sick of it, Im sick of seeing servers getting degraded due to stupid high pinging players (I might as well be playing a console Peer2Peer FPS)

Someone’s gonna probably post that these players have no real advantage & I kind of agree but when I am trying to track players teleporting or still getting hit round cover the game quickly losses its fun factor.
IMO having players with huge pings (especially like link above) is beyond unacceptable & is destroying the game.

I get this at home from time to time. A quick restart of the router solves this for me.

This happens a lot and is very annoying

He’s on a 4g connection that has routing issues out of his control. He just forgot to mention that in his post

I work 10hr shifts with traveling time I am often out for 14-15 hrs so everything gets turned of so whenever I play things are fresh so to speak.

Anyways the strafing teleporting problem that I have been suffering from since the WTD update is really apparent in this clip shoe.

Watch the last player that I kill the Skyhammer.

Excuse the bad quality shadowplay did not capture this game well also see videos description.
Edit: Also see game chat in video  Levels bring nothing good just the worst in players :frowning:

(Amerika) #14

@Maddpadd I am confused. You want SD to fix a player’s bad connection? Everyone else looked like they were moving normal and it appeared as if the Skyhammer has connection issues. He also obviously couldn’t hit you due to his issue. There is not much a company can do to fix that outside of a ping limiter similar to what other games have that boot people after X number of times your ping has climbed above a particular threshold.

(YeOldeButtcheek) #15

Is it bad that I have had better connection in US West servers than US East servers?
(I’m US East)

I’m not blaming it on a player’s connection, This problem with players tele-strafing started after the WTD update.
It happens a lot now & whenever I look at that player’s ping it seems ok as does mine.
I have pretty decent net & very rarely get problems.

Again I am not blaming player connection but I am blaming server to player connection (server is dropping packets) causing poor interpolation.
I had never seen players tele-strafing till after the WTD update & the servers have been poop ever since.

People who look like they have an OK ping will rubberband up and down or drop packets consistently. They could go from 15ms to 80ms and back down and you’d never think they had a bad ping. Everyone else in your video was just fine. I’m not sure how you can come to the conclusion that the server is affecting one player and one player only especially given the nature of how network connections work.

I’ve seen players like for the entirety of Dirty Bomb and every other video game I’ve ever played online. It’s a simple fact of networking. If the whole server is being choppy with all players affected, which is a known issue (especially on EU), that makes sense. But that isn’t the case in your video. That’s just a player with a connection that is dropping packets/rubberbanding.
