Server locks up on spawnServer

(The-Killer) #1

So I cannot get a server to start for the life of me… all i get is this
after running

exec server_objective_standard_vs
spawnServer mp/aquarium.entities

Im using default cfg and default ded1 batchfile.

Only catch is this is running in a Win2k8 VM running on Centos5.4 with KVM virtualization, which runs dual AMD opteron 2600s? i think.

Has anyone else had lockups at this point? I would think some GSP’s to run virtualization as well.

([SMG]Smeg) #2

hey man
exec server_objective_standard_vs.cfg

needs the .cfg i think

(The-Killer) #3

nope says it cant find the cfg then, even with no cfg i still get the same result

(Pherix) #4

I am having the EXACT same problem, minus the .cfg. Is anyone else running this under Windows Server 2008 R2? I had this running under Windows Server 2008, but when I switched to R2, having this problem. It is possible its having trouble with a 64 bit OS?

(Crytiqal) #5

I heard something about installing Microsoft Visual C++ on WS2008

Maybe you could confirm whether or not you have this installed?

(The-Killer) #6

Yep I’m running 2k8 R2 Standard 64bit

and I did see this http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/confirmation.aspx?FamilyID=A5C84275-3B97-4AB7-A40D-3802B2AF5FC2 mentioned in a forum post before and installed it but still no change.

Even tried running it in compat mode for win7, xpsp3, 2k3, and 2k8 to no avail.

Something i noticed at the top of the console

Vendor: 0000 Device: 0000
2613 MHz AMD CPU with MMX & SSE & SSE2 & SSE3
0 logical cores
4 physical cores
HT not available
4096 MB System Memory

Anyone else running AMD?

got exactly the same problem: application stops responding when a spawnServer is issued

the server configuration files are ok, as they are running perfectly well on other computers

the brink dedicated server is up to date (updated by steam)

Windows Server 2008 R2 64 bis in a AMD Athlon 65 3700+

I installed the lastest stable of the MS visual c++ redistributable 2010 for x86 and x86_64

brink also wont create any log files, not matter if i set the cvar to 1 or 2

anybody got any ideas how to solve it?

(Pherix) #8

Yes Killer, running AMD here also. Looking like the DS doesn’t like a 64 bit OS. Anyone here running it successfully under any 64 bit OS other than Windows Server?

Hi Guys,

I have setup a test virtual server with Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 and confirmed Brink starts without issue, are you guys still seeing the issue?

(The-Killer) #10

I had pretty much given up on it, updated to v4 now and it crashes on initial startup, dont even get the GUI… fail!

(Deadwalking) #11

Not on R2 but running VDS on 4 XEON cores Win Server 2008 x64

2 servers have been up since update was released. Didnt change anything, just copied the new files over to my server directory and fired them back up. Both are Objective servers with Custom config.

Just FYI my server no longer generates logfiles either.

When I have my server setup as hijackable it runs but seems to crash sometimes when people hijack it.

I am pretty much at a point where I am going to take my server down & be done with it.
