Server leave -> 10 mins penalty

(Ecano) #1

I’m tired to see people leaving the server when the thing gone wrong, 10 mins of penalty for them.

(tokamak) #2

You don’t want to prevent them from rejoining a game. You do want to prevent them from joining other serves and there should be an xp penalty for leaving games unfinished.

(poiuasd) #3

Public servers are for casual play and shouldn’t punish you for getting out mid-game. Matchmaking however should punish you, not sure if it already does.

(Kroad) #4

agree with this

matchmaking doesn’t outright punish you, just prevents you from playing the game until your game is finished, with an option to rejoin. A cooldown system could help a bit.

(Ecano) #5

I propose to prevent to rejoing a game few minutes when leaving an unfinish game, specially in the stopwatch servers.

For a single leaving may be too much. Three in one hour, two in a row, or something like that.

(Szakalot) #6

there is already a penalty of not getting the cash at the end of the round.

sucks for them ragequitters

Games found through the Server Browser should never punish a player from leaving. Only when using the Competitive Matchmaker (as it already happens).
(When ranking is working I expect the CM to be main way to find a match, as most people love to climb the rankings)

I can understand both sides of the issue.
Sometimes it’s just not fun to play against some teams and you might as well just leave. (…unless you’re a masochist)
Although this is a team game and there is a certain responsibility towards your team at the end of the day this is only a game and most people are there to have fun.
Leaving a match is not something I often do but If I was penalized for leaving a match (I wasn’t enjoying) found through the Server Browser I would just walk around and do ***** all until it ended.

Also, imagine this, you’re in a server with a cheater and you guys haven’t been able to kick him (perhaps he’s with friends who vote against). Should players be penalised for leaving?

Might be nice to have a message that says “if you leave now you’ll get no credits or xp and it’ll count as a lose, consider sticking around and supporting your team”.

Is not question of masochist but just finish you’ve started.

Cheater example is not a good example, is supposed to be fixed.

XP means nothing, hit them in the credits where it hurts

(tokamak) #11

Why would you want to prevent people from rejoining until the game is finished? Doesn’t that make matters much worse?

(Ecano) #12

No, ignore my previous post, I’ll try to word it better

When a player is leaving unfinished games punish him denying access to any server for a certain time.

This made my day

(Destroy666) #13

Agreed. Thus SD should first penalise team stackers who purposely make many people ragequit by switching to a better team in the intermission. Unfortunately it’s quite common because DB players prefer getting more $$ for buying stuff rather than playing fair games. And that’s why P2W in team-based multiplayers sucks, at least this form of it.

But he gets to come back to the same server right? I’m all for that. That’s what many games do.

DB is still a bit weird in that regard. If you want to the matches to matter then the whole server system where people continue to drop in and out all the time has to go.

Games should be played one at the time. Draft mode, fight the match, win or lose, back to menu, join qeue, draft, rinse repeat.

That’s the only way a ladder makes sense.

Don’t know if it’s been mentionned, but sometimes I happen to “lose connection” (either due to my connection or to game netcode), even when i have the smoothest ping ever. Not happening at every session but i can’t really know when it occurs. Being punished because of that is not really getting me into the game much if you ask me.

On counter-strike the console says if the player left by himself (“disconnected by user”) or did crash. It’d be a good idea to display it in chatbox too, to avoid players reputation issue. So even on competitiv modes, this should be considered before applying penalty.

(Neo_TA) #16

this rule wont work due to fact of hackers ingame and ppl leave the game or connection problems

(BioSnark) #17

penalty is as harsh as it needs to be outside of the mm system.
