Server Connection Timing Out Shouldn't Affect XP Gain

(TheStrangerous) #1

I’ve been losing connection to servers way to frequently as of late.

Now it’s nice that I can keep all the credits I’ve earned. However it’s not my fault I couldn’t reconnect to a server, and losing all the XP for daily mission makes me wanna pull my hair out. I have to do everything all over again.

My interent speed is over 80 MB/s (megabytes per second), just to let you know.

Could we at least keep the XP, even while server connection timed out? I’d be grateful.

We should be able to reconnect, that’s all. When, sometimes, my game crushes or server disconnects, and I have no steam-friends in that game, I have no idea what was the server I was playing.

The problem with that is that if you lost connection to a server, there’s probably a reason that you did. If that is the case, then you may not be able to connect to the server again anyway. Also, the server may be full.

8 MB/s? How can you even play with such a potato internet?

Back to topic: I agree on making it save if you time out.
It happened to me multiple times that server crashed and it’s annoying to lose all the progress.

Whoops, I meant to write 80Mbps.

[left]haha 8 MB/s is a potato?

i have 600 KB/s (it raised recently, i had 300 KB/s for years) and thats more than enough to play fluently all over europe (ping less than 50)

not everyone lives in a city and has the fancy new glass fiber stuff

on topic; it doesnt matter how much bandwith you have as long you meet the requirements
you could have 3 terra/s (one terra=1000 giga) and nothing would change (your wallet would die of starvation tough)

i have random server disconnects too, nothing you can do about it
its a provider problem, not SD’s buisness

bandwith has very little to do with latency.

you can have 100000mbs bandwith, but if you’re pulling it through a satellite, enjoy your 300+ ping

Lately, that reason was not my internet, but servers crashing.

If it’s the servers fault, you should be able to reconnect. If you, for some weird reason can’t do it, you should get all EXP and rewards. If it’s your connections fault, you should be able to reconnect. If you can’t, for some weird reason, you shouldn’t get rewards.

If xp is the thing that motivates you to play more than the fun you had playing, oh well

@FrostyVampire 8mb/s… i usually have 200kb/s…
i want to live in your world :disappointed:

(SaulWolfden) #13

They should also fix false kicks that have been happening because of NGS crashing on its own.

@TheStrangerous
Oh ok, that makes more sense now.
I thought you actually play with 8 MB/s potato internet :stuck_out_tongue:

As stated above, your bandwidth has absolutely nothing to do with your connection quality assuming you have enough up and down that is stable. And games require very little bandwidth to run. So if some salesman at your ISP tries to ever up-sell you when you complain about connection drops and latency issues (high pings) then hang up the phone and try to get somebody else because they are scamming you.

It would be nice to be able to reconnect to a dropped game. Sometimes things happen and you get disconnected. Maybe your PC bluescreen, your ISP for some reason dropped a lot of packets in a row etc. It would be nice to come back and see a reconnect option even if you had to sit in spec.

I have a 60 KB/s Connection, and i don’t feel any connection issue or lag.
