I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who gets frustrated with quick join and being put into Europe servers and get like 200 ping because I'm on the other side of the Earth in US West. And also when I finally find a US West lobby and join, it says it's full.
When I finally get into a lobby that I want, the game ends in 30 seconds, than everyone leaves the lobby to find another one.
We definitely should have indications saying how long the game session has started so you can decide whether to join or not. Please leave your opinions.
Server Browser Should Indicate How Far The Session Has Been Going
Personally I have never joined a match to find out e every one left. Some leave, some stay, but eventually it fills back up by the time the match starts. The matchmaking systems needs to be fixed but they are aware of that and are probably hard at work.
I always use the server browser to join a match cause of the current issues and I have never struggled that much to find a match.
I’ve had tons of games where I enter and even before I spawn, the game has ended. That’s so annoying.
9 out of 10 times I use the Quick Join. Because the regular join almost always gives the “server full” message by the time it has loaded.
I got so sick of joining games that are just about to end, that I started only joining servers that are in “Lobby”, and have the lowest ping available for me.
Usually I don’t have to wait too long to find one.
Yeah I have “+EU +lobby -min” in my filter since forever. Sometimes it’s annoying because you are trying to click on a server just as it’s going into a map and disappears from the list…
Just want to say:
- Bumping (repeated posting on a thread to keep it going or visible) is also not allowed.
- Intentionally necro-bumping will result in disciplinary action.
Not sure if that applies to this completely but seems pretty damn close to breaking the forum rules. @Ardez @Amerika for confirmation, please?
Oh c’mon. I this thread was created today it would look the same. Nothing has changed since then.
It’s a QoL feature many, many want.

I agree with the thread completely, it’s just an old thread he brought back from the dead. I’m just looking for confirmation that this is or isn’t in violation of the forum rules.
The friends list shows whether the game is in warm-up, playing or results. I don’t see why they couldn’t easily and quickly add it to the server browser in the next few updates before spending time to add the timer.
I was thinking the exact same thing last night, like half of my games had 1 minute or less when I joined yesterday.
yep, and when the match is done more than half the server leaves and you end up playing 3v3 or something. then people starts joining and some how all the good player end up on the same team.
I would really like that feature! I have no problems joining a running game in the first minutes but it sucks to wait for the loading screen, then wait for the deploy countdown, then you can play for 2 minutes and the map ends.

Good job, police officer, I feel really safe now.
I suggest to directly send the guy in prison, police officer.
On topic: I don’t think this is needed. Just check the ping. People leaving after the end of a match has nothing to do with the browser, and often more people join straight away or during the start of the next match, so I don’t see a problem there.

Or I could’ve created another one by copy pasting if that sounds better to you… -.-"
It’s fine. The only issues we have with necro threads is when they contain a lot of out of date information. And those I usually just close and ask people not to necro.
As far as the suggestion goes I’d just use the server browser and use the filters and ignore Quick Join. Because sometimes Quick Join isn’t very quick.

That’s why I was asking for confirmation instead of just saying “Hey this needs to be shut down immediately”, no need for people to crucify me when this is part of forum rules. I even stated that I agree with the thread content for the most part.
Not necroing if this special topic isn’t dead, and even better than starting a new thread on this topic every few days, imo. So nothing to revive, rly, and no more spam.
I’d guess the information you get through the steam-engine is friendlist-client-based. And that the serverbrowser’s info is updated directly by either the serverbrowser or the gameserver connecting to the other-one every so-and-so seconds. Probably 180? secs?
Just guessing, because if you get auto-joined to an empty server (lobby), and… if … somewhen a second players stops by and stays, so the server starts the map (map xyz running), it’ll still take a few minutes, probably even half the map, to get other people joining this server (imo 180 seconds is a good number, I’ve never really counted).
So if my guess is right, and even this masterserver-gameserver-update-time is this high, it’s probably a more dedicated-problem to be solved.
Nah, just saying, get it working, you already seem to be near to having got the ingame-report working, so the next one would be (imo) filling-up the min-lvl-xyz-servers in time. We’re already a few weeks into “high level players”-“stomping now noobs and then possible customers”-gamemode again.
If you join at the end of the match, chances are that the team you are assigned to is getting hammered. Sometimes you just have to play through to get to the reshuffle on the next match.
