yes, in case some ‘random db newbie with at least >40-60h gametime’ will stumble upon the minlvl20server through quickjoin (cause its not possible to make such a server accessible through browser only) and rage or troll, and of course nobody else on the minlvl server knows how to votekick or ‘/p’

nevermind the HUNDREDS of LOYAL SD veterans who asked for ff pubs since inception of the game. well most of them gave up already, so i can see how it makes sense to never-them-mind indeed

If only everybody with level 20+ who complains about ff off, inbalanced games, chaos on 7vs7/8vs8 servers and so on would just ditch casual all together and only play ranked as soon as it gets live again. The queue times would dramatically decrease and we would have enough players for all skill levels to have fun and competitve games.

Many don’t want to be necessarily pushed into ranked or pugs to have access to ff-on. My view is, if you can’t access to the same rule of ranked/competitive playing in a public game, well, there is an issue. Imagine the frustration of a newcomer coming on ranked for the first time, not even aware ff-on can be enabled in this game.

On its own, it adds a new layer and requires knowledge. If you can’t practice in a rather informal situation, this breaks everything. In a soccer game, you can’t play a proper match without knowing what an offside is. And the best way to learn the proper rules and the according behaviour is to get them as often as you can, even when you’re not 100% focused on what you do.

There should have been FF-on servers from the start, no one said all of them. I don’t mind removing those servers from the quick join list, that’s perfectly possible to do.

As @Szakalot mentioned, this was requested a long time ago, even prior to db was released on steam. And this already participated on the SD veterans leak back then.

They have plenty of tools to make that work nicely, even with the possibility of reducing damage dealt on friendlies. I don’t understand why they keep this only on ranked. Because I’ll be relunctant to dive into ranked alone for that very reason : I don’t want to endure the brainless spam in those circumstances, mostly because people are not EDUCATED to it.

I completely agree with you, that the best solution would be casual 5vs5 servers probably with ff on would be better, but I would be ok with FF off as well.

But: As it doesnt look like we will ever get those, this seems the next best solution to me. And the more people play ranked the more different skill levels there are. You are a level 80 but you just like 5vs5 ff on but dont want to be too competitive? No problem. Just play relaxed and you can play with the not so experienced players. My point is, a lot of people (including me) are bitching about ff off, servers with too many players, having to play with beginners, inbalanced games and so on. SD gives us a little bit with CMM and 6vs6 but in the long run, it’s up to us players to move over to ranked and leave casual behind.

in order for a migration to happen, it has to be big enough that is, there has to be a critical amount of players switching to ranked for ANYONE to play ranked.
which is never gonna happen when the newcomers have no way of safely practicing with ff-on.

such a newcomer comes to ranked and gets destroyed by veterans and dbnation puggers.

they dont come back , and we have a situation where nobody plays ranked

Oh well. One can dream…

I agree though, a few pub servers with FF on would be cool. They could be clearly marked, so players who don’t want to play with FF on could filter them out, just like the other server filters.

Edit: There are 6 min level 20 SW servers in EU. At most three of those are populated with players, even on weekends. Two or three of those unused server could be converted to 5v5 FF on servers with a tweak and a reboot. I’d play on those servers. Only problem I see is that they’d be full all the time.
