Serious light problems

(Gremlin) #1

Hello, I made couple of rooms in my map, everything was just fine,
until I added some light objects.
Radiant started to crash and deleted my map file (Glib could not reallocate 4096 bytes), good I had a backup.
Then every time I compile, it crashes and I don’t see errors in radiant.log ( I enabled the log).
I compile with -light -fast.

Any ideas? :???:

Did you compile with -meta first? followed by -vis -fast then -light -fast?

If that ain’t the problem I dunno sorry.

I have this problem, I can only compile with bsp-meta. If I try any light compile GTK crashes.

I havn’t got a solution, but there’s an alternative. Just use q3map2toolz (or any of the other front-ends) to compile.

It saves you opening GTK, and you can select which compile switches to use.

Get it here.

I’m downloading now the new versions of the compiler and editor.
I’ll try there.

If I’m not mistaken, the light stage needs a .bsp to work from… Right? For when you look at the compile string (in the batch), it says something to the effect of:

“c:\games\q3map2\q3map2.exe” -light -fast “c:\games\wolf\mapname.bsp

The .bsp is created from the previous stage (-meta)…

Is this right or am I totally off?

(Gremlin) #6

So Imust pass all the stages to compile?

hmm …

It’s a long way

There is a bug in GtkRadiant ET where long install paths cause it to bork on complex compile options. Basically it’s an overflow bug (like the kind that Outlook Express has).

Anyway, I fixed it ages ago and you can download newer builds here. Also, don’t forget the latest build of Q3Map2.
