It frustrates me that skins have no value at all because they are tied to loadouts. Such as IMO some of the silver loadouts being prettier than gold and cobalt. Or that I cannot use my Founder’s Fragger skin because the M4 Explodydendron card is superior. Splash Damage is also missing a big opportunity with releasing payed skins here. I’d give quite a bit of dosh to play Proxy in a swimsuit!
Seperate merc and weapon skins from loadouts cards please!
I hate people who want lore-unfriendly stuff just for the sake of having it. If you want girls in a swimsuit, go on a beach.
… which gives me an idea.
Nader as german dominatrix in latex - “Have yopu been a bad boy…”
Kira as either Ninja or Geisha.
Skyhammer as construction worker - “Time to drop a hammer… literally.”
Fragger as supermarket groceries assitant - “Apples, oranges, potatoes…3…2…1…boom.”
Fletcher as rapper, Sparks as school teacher, Bushwhacker as Allan Quartermain, and all i can come out for Aura cant be discussed on this forum 8).
What lore? It’s not like most of the mercs have any realistic body armour. I can imagine them also having an ammo or pouch belt and being camo, would still fit in with all the other merc gear. Would be great if they added custom models to cobalt cards as well. I don’t think cobalt cards by themselves are good enough to be worth the price of crafting otherwise.
I would absolutely love having crazy costumes as long as you can turn them on or off on your client side. So people who don’t like them can have them off and people who do enjoy them can turn things on. I’m all for this game getting more character rather than playing it safe like it has. I also think melee weapons would be fantastic. Butcher cleavers, baseball bats, sickles, a spork…all would be pretty fantastic as long as they didn’t affect gameplay.
This game has a lot more potential for style and customization. Not quite over the top like Loadout but definitely more than CSGO.

Don’t you think this would essentially break the game if you were to make every character a certain bright color? Maybe you could make the enemy team all super light red so they’d be easier to see. Seeing as how the enemy team has different colors then your friendlies to begin with, it would probably give you an advantage over other people who don’t have it.

I’m not talking about Q3 “bright skins”. I’m talking about different outfits or melee weapons that don’t impact gameplay. Stuff that would be officially released by SD for us either to use or purchase and use. I also mentioned having an option to turn it off or even have a competition setting where they are forced off while in match even though I don’t think it would need to go that far.

I also wish they had that option, but I was saying if they would let us use player based skins. We just have to accept the fact that skins effect game play. Just a little difference makes all of the difference in the right elements. Harder to see in some spots, easier to see in other spots. If they wish to do this, have a separate launcher and allow mods and make it just for fun rather than effecting your account or…
Have a constant amount of exp and credits would make this a pretty fun game. They could also have the winning team’s total credits/exp multiplied on the winning team by like 1.2~1.5. The amount of credits/exp you earn would be based on how much you play, rather then how well you play. I would make this number much lower then what you can accumulate in normal games though (aka the normal launcher).
This was just an idea though.
I think you’re over-thinking this. All skins would go through SD and they wouldn’t be advantageous. They’d be similar color schemes to whatever is already in the game except instead of a gold uniform with a gun that is red and black you’d get a person with a Hawaiian shirt. I’m not saying that should be added to the game but it’s an example.
I’m not talking about allowing people to use their own local custom sets of skins in order to gain an advantage. I fail to see how my character wearing a dopey and tacky Hawaiian shirt that SD has released for us to use would be advantageous for me. And I’d be all for it as long as there is an option to turn it off at your client (if you hate that kind of thing) or force it off via the server.
I think a better solution is only allow it to effect team members instead. That way it really wouldn’t effect the game too much because they’re listed on your map anyway.
This is actually a really good idea, a win win for both developers and players.
Aren’t they doing something like that already? I mean there’s this leaked concept art at least
