Separate Sensitivity Sliders for Hipfire, ADS, and Scope

(son!) #1

Will these be added at some point? Perhaps in a fashion similar to Battlefield 4’s Uniform Soldier Aiming.

No harm in asking for these things.

Could we also get a better way to change our sensitivity in-game than a slider? The config file saves it very precisely (down to 6 decimal points), but in-game all you can do is wave a slider around and hope that it ends up somewhere near the point you want. There really should be a text box to let us put an exact number in.

@farsightedOrange‌ console cmd setsensitivity x.xx where x.xx is a value

(farsightedOrange) #5

That’d help, but at the moment it doesn’t seem like it works. I tried it now and nothing happened no matter what value I put there. It says it wants a bool too, but putting true/false or 1/0 there doesn’t make a difference.
Seems like it’s still a bit inconsistent whether stuff in the console actually does what it says or not at the moment

(Mustang) #6

It does work just fine btw, care to show a screenshot of the error message?

(farsightedOrange) #7

Eh, well it’s working now. Before I was just trying it while I was on the main menu and then checking the options to see if it took. When I did that it didn’t seem like it was working, the setting would show as just being the same in there. Doing it in game it works fine though, so it’s a bit odd but not much of a problem.

Now I’m probably going to be spending more time trying to get the weirdo keybind I use in other games that doubles my sens when I hold space working than I spend playing for a while. That might be a bit more of a problem

Edit: actually got it working already, that was easy. Looks like the game’s set up to be nice and configurable, even for people like me who like weird settings

You can already do this kinda…

The problem is the unreal engine bases sensitivity scales based on FOV. I have no idea if this will be addressed in future. For now you can simply type… “SetFOVSensitivityScale #.###” in the console and it will change it.

What I’m after is total configure-ability over inputs. Keyboards are pretty trivial and already fully configurable as far as I’m aware (can bind any action to any key). Maybe for the 0.001% of players who want to bind multiple actions to a single key, it could be lacking. Mouse on the other hand is the much more important of the two inputs. Having a sensitivity that scales with FOV is good, but (x sensitivity multiplier)(FOV 90) ,(x sensitivity multiplier)(FOV70) is inadequate, you need atleast (x sensitivity multiplier)(FOV 90) ,(y sensitivity multiplier)(FOV70). It’s not uncommon to find people sticking to the same settings because their muscle memory has been developed and they don’t want to compromise it. Modern games don’t really appreciate this as you can tell buy course-grained sensitivity sliders and unscaleable ‘zoom’ sensitivities.

Care to say what your ideal settings would be?

(son!) #11

Whatever I’m most comfortable with. Point is to allow configurability so people who are accustomed to certain sensitivities (zoom, ads, what have you) do not have to adjust because a game is inflexible in sensitivity customization. The downside to adding customization is a more complex options menu, but that’s why in the original post I suggested in a manner similar to how BF4 did it with their Uniform Soldier AIming, which allowed for users who are uninterested in customization to leave the scaling alone, and those who are the ability to adjust for different sights/scopes.

Yea I get that, the reason why I asked is because in the short term FOVSensitivityScale can be used, as PixelTwitch mentioned, to find something that you find acceptable, because clearly the default isn’t working for you otherwise it would be a moot point.

So if you were able to say what feels wrong with it, or by how much, we could suggest a value to make it feel better for the presently available options.
