Separate keybindings for each merc

I’d like a tab for merc specific keybinds under the options menu. So that I can set a keybind for my weapons and abilities on a merc by merc basis.

Let’s look at some examples.

Sawbonez
Primary Weapon: 1
Secondary Weapon: 2
Knife: 3
Ability 1 (Med Pack): Q
Ability 2 (Defibrillator): E
Pretty much the default.

Skyhammer
Primary Weapon: 1
Secondary Weapon: 2
Knife: 3
Ability 1 (Air Strike): E
Ability 2 (Ammo Pack): Q
Opposite of default to have ammo and health on the same key.

Fragger
Primary Weapon: 1
Secondary Weapon: 2
Knife: 3
Ability 1 (Frag Grenade): MouseButton4
Ability 2 (None):
Makes it easier to move while cooking, and also prevents you from accidentally throwing nades at your feet after just having played medic/ammo dude.

Nader
Primary Weapon: 1
Secondary Weapon: 2
Knife: 3
Ability 1 (Grenade Launcher): 4
Ability 2 (Martyrdom (can’t remember if it is it’s own key)): E
Moves the grenade launcher to a number key among the other weapons.

Fletcher
Primary Weapon: 1
Secondary Weapon: 2
Knife: 3
Ability 1 (Sticky Bombs): MouseButton4
Ability 2 (Detonate): MouseButton5
Same reasons as Fragger.

Phantom
Primary Weapon: 3
Secondary Weapon: 2
Knife: 1
Ability 1 (Refractive Armour): Q
Ability 2 (None):
Makes the sword the primary weapon (kind of).

Let’s say if the keybind on this tab is left blank, it’ll use the default bind.

But I assume that’s never going to happen, so instead it’d be nice if someone has some commands I can put into input.ini that will change my keybinds around. Let’s say F5 is default, F6 is Skyhammer, F7 is Fletcher, F8 is Nader etc…

Or if that’s not possible, though I’m pretty sure it is. Maybe someone has made a AHK script that does just that, in which case I’d like that.

I’m currently not home, and won’t be until Thursday, so if no one have done so until then, I’ll do it myself and post it here if anyone is interested.

Especially for Sparks, jesus f**k, instead of pulling out my Revivr to kill them or revive, I throw out healthpacks for the enemy bunnyhopping in front of me or for my dying teammate who is in agony.

Haven’t played Sparks, but read up on her, and damn, that’s confusing! Sawbonez, press Q for Med Pack and E for Revive. Sparks, press E for Med Pack and Q for Revive… Who the fuck makes these dumb decisions?!

Id just settle for ability to determine what ability is to be counted primary and what is secondary. Devs vision of keybinds is rather bad.

Yeah :slight_smile: Some thing i really don’t like are the grenade of fragger and fletcher :frowning:
You are like pressing your key (c for me) all the time while using zqd to move lol
You are like a chimpanzee on a keyboard ^^

Some thing i would like to see is beeing able to select the grenande like any weapon.
So you can keep the grenade in your hand like any fps game (not automatic throw) and throw it with your mouse1… Well the best would be that you can take it with any way you want, for exemple i use “C” and i don’t want it to be throw automaticaly… I just select the ability and use it with my mouse.

You are not very controlling your soldier while doing it :frowning:
The problem is it work good for revive and medic but for grenade is suck and especialy with fletcher!!

At first I thought I would be too, but after having played a lot of fragger I realized I need that ability slot to be on my mouse, and I don’t want my abilities on most other mercs to be there. Haven’t played much of nader, but I found it confusing to have a weapon on Q, so again I’d like to move that somewhere else, but this time, not the mouse. I thought the same about Phantom, even though I’ve never played him.

I think you actually can do that with 4 or 5 by default. Select ability 1/2 in key bindings. Though I’m not entirely sure. But yeah, the quick cast on Q or C or whatever is frustrating sometimes. For some reason when I crouch (ctrl) and move around with WASD I always release Q and drop the nade at my feet. Lovely, now I have to leg it out in the open and hope the enemy is as shit as my keybindings are :smile:

Ok I’m home and ready to tweak this shit, but can’t find the correct input.ini. Where is it? Steam version here.

shooterinput.ini in %USERPROFILE%\Documents\my games\UnrealEngine3\ShooterGame\Config

a simple bind to rebind other keys would look something like this

Bindings=(Name=“Z”,Command=“setbind Q WeaponSlotFour 0 | setbind F QuickItem2Cmd 0”)

I know about that one, but it does not contain my settings, it’s just the defaults.
