Selling my copy. Good riddance.

From day one, I talked this game up to everyone. I told them it was going to change the genre, and I was even telling some people to just pick it up on launch because I was so sure they wouldn’t be disappointed that I made the suggestion without a second thought. A game that bridges the gap between single player and multiplayer MUST be a revolutionary game. A game that focuses not only on the shooting, but teamwork and objective gameplay, it sounded like the kind of game I’d been waiting for to break into the modern gaming arena and change everything.

Well, it couldn’t be farther from that. I feel like everything I read, heard, or saw through videos was a complete and utter lie. It was made to look like this incredible game, and after getting my hands on it I’d say it was perfectly orchestrated. Paul Wedgewood, our smug little pudgy friend, really played it off like some masterpiece. I should’ve trusted my first instincts, but no, I had faith in him. Even though he spoke annoyingly and even looked so, I ignored those things and didn’t doubt him once.

The bots are a mess (which I learned tonight that they released a patch TO MAKE THEM MORE DIFFICULT AND MORE FRUSTRATING), the online multiplayer is pretty much non-existent, and every other feature of the game such as challenge mode, is complete and utter garbage. The assault rifles don’t shoot straight, hipfire is grossly inaccurate at just about any range but touching distance, the “parkour” feels clunky and looks ugly when it happens, the leaning is next to useless against anyone but human opponents, grenades are like turds, I just can’t say enough.

Before I piss you all off more than you can handle though, I’ll wrap it up.

I’d never played a Splash Damage game before in my life, but in the future, I’ll know just who to avoid when I hear the word “revolutionary” getting thrown around. I’ll duck and cover, hide under a table, chant while holding a cross, whatever it takes to get the ****ty taste of another possible “masterpiece” out of my mouth.

If SD didn’t have fans like you, they’d disappear like cotton candy in a ****ing hurricane. They are so lucky they’ve got folks like you who are happy with what they call “functional video games.”

Personally, I hope their ship sinks to the bottom of the proverbial sea. Pretty sad when I had more fun on the forums than with the game itself. See you guys later. You’ve been decent to me. :stroggbanana: :stroggbanana: :stroggbanana: :stroggbanana: :stroggbanana: :stroggbanana:

^^ with him
Guess what, no game is perfect, every game has it’s flaws in the beginnen, but SD is one of the only companies I know that supports it’s games that long, and that fast. Go and cry in your little basement and since I (we?) don’t know you, I (we?) don’t give a single ***** you don’t play it.

Excuse him for wanting a game to work out the box. And your reaching there, no game is perfect out the box yes I agree, but most games work to the extent that they are playable whereas Brink is a broken mess.

If you really gave more than an raised eyebrow to this “A game that bridges the gap between single player and multiplayer MUST be a revolutionary game”, you are more confused about what this game is than the developers.

This is a multiplayer game, that happens to have a campaign. That bridge you talk about means they will not use words as singleplayer, multiplayer, but campaign and free play.

Devs lied; game is a POS. I tried liking it, but you just can’t avoid the fact that BRINK is a ing failure. Defend this disaster of a game all you want, it wont change the fact that nobody is going to be playing it in a month, when they realize there’s ABSOLUTELY **** ALL TO DO after you get to level 20 (start a new character and do the same bull all over again? no thanks)

Replay value = ****. I got bored in 3 days, that’s a new record.

I tried, SD. I tried. But you’ve got my $68, so who gives a ****.

You play FPS games on 360, I think Brink is the least of your worries.

Back to BLOPS for you, casual!

i think the game is good enough for an out of box product. What i see is that SD is working to patch some issues and they respond pretty quick. It’s really fun playing MP and i am confident that given a little time, the game will be more stable and more enjoyable.

So call me a fanboy or something, i dont give a ****. Developers are doing fine.

Sounds like you got swept up in the hype of it all. Is Brink the second coming of the Messiah in video game form? Nope. Is it a revolutionary game that is going to change how we define shooters from now on? Nope. I think too many people are judging this game according to what they want it to be rather than enjoying it for what it is.

I mean a game ‘bridging multiplayer and single player’ is not all that revolutionary. Left 4 Dead did it, Resident Evil 5 did it, Borderlands did it, Army of Two did it… and many others. I actually enjoy the AI as much as I hate it. If the AI was controllable or focused on the main objective all the time that’s all people would do. That’s why I think people think it sucks so bad is cause they want the AI to cooperate with them rather than trying to cooperate with the AI. The faster you go and help the AI get their objective done the faster they can focus their attention on the main objective. That’s what I disliked about other games is that the AI catered too much to the player so when they get online they are used to having the AI follow them and do everything they wanted so they expect the same of online players. And you get a bunch of people running around trying to be the boss of everything cause they are used to that on SP. With Brink it tries to condition you out of that ‘leader’ mentality and make you more aware of what your team mates are doing as well as getting out of the tunnel vision of only going for the main objective.

Also you have to understand how the AI works. Like L4D the AI is scripted for tension and to keep the match ‘exciting’. They want YOU to be the hero so they’ll hang off the main objectives and not try to steal your thunder. I like this idea but sometimes I wish they were aware of what your class was and act accordingly. If it have to place a bomb and I’m an engineer I expect one of the 2-3 soldiers on the team to try and plant one rather than wait for the ‘engineer’ to do it. The other thing is the AI is scripted for the ‘shot at the buzzer’ surge. So the closer you get to the end of the match the harder the AI is going to push to get the objective done. They did this cause they want to make matches suspenseful. You’ll be struggling and struggling and then the last 2 minutes or 30 seconds all the pieces fall into place and you get the objective done just barely before time runs out.

And I have to say its successful to a point. It is quite a rush when you’re struggling for an objective and when all hope is gone BOOM you pull a win out of no where. But some people aren’t that patience and tend to rage quit if matches aren’t going their way and start again rather than see a match through that they aren’t winning. The other thing I hate about it is that this boost in AI performance is not limited to friendly AI. Enemy AI also get all amped up and can make for some heartbreaking losses when you hold down a objective for 9 minutes only to get bum rushed the last minute and all you can do is watch as the match as basically stolen from you.

But all in all, if you have the patience its a very very enjoyable game. If you don’t have the patience it can be very very frustrating. You can’t play Brink like you do any other shooter and I enjoy that. If you want to play CoD: Atlantis, Brink that is not. I kinda like how junky the guns are. It kinda makes sense to me a little since you know the ARK is very run down and dealing with limited resources a good 100% top performance gun would probably hard to get your hands on. Of course its no excuse for the bland selection but I can rationalize it enough that it suffices for me.

All in all, Brink is the the most amazing game out there and you’re a fool for thinking so. Same token Brink is the the worst game out their either. There is fun to be had for people who can enjoy it for what it is. Its different. Different is not always fun for everyone. Some people try to play games that are different the same way they play their old games. Which is like trying to eat your cereal with a butter knife. Brink is just one of those games that requires a little more patience to get into. So people are either going to love it or hate it.

Okay, reread your statement…

Now go play Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising or Red River.

End of Discussion

Yeah let’s talk Broken mess’s when your talking about a game that’s merely having connection problems. It’s not a big deal, it’s not like the game has programming errors where you can beat a level when you get the hostage to the extraction point, but doesn’t finish.

Or maybe having bots or AI that literally put themselves into the line of fire, not to help you, but just die while you request a medic, so the bot doesn’t tease you, it tries to die while it teases you.

(PS in the video, the player is on the ground, inable to move, calling a medic… and the dark lookin fellow RIGHT next to his body is a medic).

So as far as BRINK being a broken mess, it gets worst… A LOT worst… trust me, this is just my most recent experience.

(SentencedToBurn) #11

The fact is that the game isn’t ****ing fun for more than 3 days.
ohhai, I WILL kick the **** out of you if I see you in real life. You are the epitome of keyboard-tough guy, PC-elitist, shut-in, no life douchebag.
Black Ops is a piece of **** game too, Treyarch is the (second) worst developer of all time, but at least they can create a game with WORKING MECHANICS, and an engine that doesn’t look and play like it’s from 2003.

Back to your gaming chair, faggot. I’m sure mom is warming up some hot-pockets for your fat lard-ass right now, so don’t let ME keep you.

Ditch this ****.

You are a really bad guy aren’t you SentencedToBurn? Maybe you shouldn’t take Metal lyrics too serious…
