Updated with amazon bestsellers figures for US and UK

These figures are looking really good, thanks for this thread guys

I also missed this news somehow, but a quick search reveals it’s not quite “no licensing of id Tech 5” In actual fact, they’ve said anyone wanting to develop with IT5 needs to publish their game with Bethesda. While that can still be seen as a negative from some angles, it does mean that id can save some money (on engine support duties) and concentrate on (a) improving the engine, and (b) developing their own games. I’m all for this, because it’s been too long since we had an id game to play with, and Raven seem to have lost the plot IMO. If a developer really wants to use IT5, they can get a deal with Bethesda to allow that.

So Bethesda get an awesome engine to use for their own games, id save some money and tighten their focus, and the tech is still available for “licensing” by other developers, just not in the same sense as before. It certainly doesn’t mean that the only time we’ll see IT5, is with id games. There’s already 1 (or more) external developer signed up and producing a game now, so I guess we’ll have to see how the situation pans out from here

Hmm seems like the PSN outage may have affected the pre orders according to vgchartz. With no PSN up and running i doubt many PSN users want to buy a game if they can’t get the full use of it with online being down. Not to bring down 360 since im a 360 user im not surprised with those numbers. With no exclusives games coming out until the end of the year it seems like the only hope 360 players have is buying multiplat games. Not saying it bad but it does get boring playing the only two games on 360 COD(might as well make it exclusive since they make horrible ports to other platforms) and Halo. The thing that shocks me the most is Future solider is still getting pre orders without any update from the games since E3 and hearing news that i believe 1/3 of the dev team behind the game either got layoff or transfered. One thing i hope for console users to have some good start off in online with PC getting dedicated servers, console users may be hit hard with some horrible COD moments. Kinda sad to since you get better features on a cheaper price with PC version depending where you buy it, but i guess its about time since PC usually get some bad multiplat ports.

#2 on Steam right now.

(brainsnakes) #105

what bacon said. I just made this account right now to say that brink is currently outselling portal 2 on steam, and that’s pretty impressive to me.

Game looks amazing. I really hope this one keeps a strong playerbase.

Bump #2

Update #2: Brink seems to have achieved roughly 332,000 pre-order units sold. As expected, this performance exceeded the earlier linear trend prediction that I had made (i.e. 300,000 pre-order units sold). [Source] I look forward to seeing how the first week unit sales hold up.

(Mustkunstn1k) #107

And that’s just the consoles. It’s doing quite well on Steam and other PC sites too.

(system) #108

So 333.500 pre-orders only in america and for consoles. Pretty impressive!

(Apoc) #109

Updated, now no.1 in steam, has risen in nearly every chart. Amazon especially has seen huge changes, with brink going up at least 4 places in every catagory, with some catagories seeing it climb 10 places in one week!

(Project) #110

Good to see brink doing this well in preorders, hopefully tons of people will buy it after release when they realize what they are missing.

This topic deserves a bump, I think…

I predicted 375,000 units sold on Consoles in the First Week in the Americas region.

As it turns out [Source 1; Source 2], Brink has sold 391,000 on consoles in the First Week in the Americas region. Additionally, Brink has sold 534,000 on Consoles Worldwide in the First Week.

On PC, based on Steam Players accounts [Source], we can see that Brink had a peak of roughly 3,128,000 player accounts. In other words, Brink has sold roughly 3,128,000 Worldwide in the first week [Fact Check please?].

It turns out that my predictions were pretty close, even if I underestimated the contribution from the PS3 and overestimated the contribution of the Xbox 360.

For those of you who recall my initial prediction, I used a multiplier to correlate pre-order Units Sold to the actual First Week units sales. VGCharts indicated a number of factors influencing the predictive power of pre-order sales, and ranked how “Hardcore” a title is as a key indicator of this conversion.

It turns out that Brink’s multiplier was 1.17; not the 1.25 that I forecast. By virtue of the extent to which these multipliers are predictive of how “Hardcore” a title is perceived, Brink seems to have scored as an extremely “Hardcore” title.

However, I can’t discount the possibility that Brink’s launch issues and unfavourable reviews might have significantly affected its First Week sales performance.

In any case, Brink has sold well. It’s difficult to say where Brink will go from here. It wasn’t met with the same raw influx of First Week sales that welcomed Homefront. And I wonder if Brink will have more commercial longevity than Homefront, which seems to be petering out. Alternatively, maybe Brink’s performance will be closer to that of Crysis 2. By virtue of it’s replayability, I think Brink will exceed Bulletstorm.

Brink’s performance in the EMEAA’s market is very strong. If I had to make a call, I’d say that it’s on track for a 1.25M Worldwide 10-week unit sales on Consoles. This is pretty good, but it could have been better.

Certainly, for the potential that I feel Brink offers, I’d prefer to see it perform significantly better than this forecast. However, I can’t help but think that the initial onset of poor reviews and the hardcore nature of the pretty-much multiplayer-exclusive gameplay will prevent Brink from enjoying a more-favourable commercial outcome than I’ve predicted on Consoles.

Used game sales will severely hamper future console sales. Most of the used copies of Brink are in like new condition as well since many gamers (and reviewers) only played it for 10-20 hours at most.

[QUOTE=Coolaguy;318071] I think Brink will exceed Bulletstorm.

You mean in terms of sales right? Not as an enjoyable game? Because I enjoy a trip to the dentist more than I enjoyed Bulletstorm.

Congrats BRINK!

What I don’t get: Is there was no midnight release ANYWHERE where I lived, but every Gamestop I asked told me that only LA Noire had one… yet it sold less? Maybe 90% of the sales were in CA… because the game takes place in Hollywood, and what not… IDK.
