Selling like hotcakes

(trigg3r) #21

question: how do they chart these topsellers? by unit or by money?
'cause if it’s by unit the huge 80% and 40% discount on arma 2 in steam would explain them being higher than Brink.

Also maybe i’m wrong but i don’t expect LA noire to sell that good as everyone is expecting to, i just don’t see a lot of kids waiting impatiently to play a game about solving crimes, they just wanna shoot stuff

(Xerxes52) #22

Same here, I should go preorder sometime (been having a blast in the beta while I’m waiting for brink to come out).

I’m looking forward to seeing how the story pans out. I quite enjoyed the books, and we’ve been assured that the Dom/Marcus storyline will at least be all tied up and not left hanging… apparently.

Top sellers list is by revenue. Usually all major games on steam gets into top sellers near release. Even smaller indie games come on the top one week around their release dates.

One of the reasons why Witcher isn’t on the top sellers is because it had been possible to pre purchase it since november and it got really good deal on gog.com. No drm, one classic rpg for free, $16 credit for EU users and much more. But it will definitely return to top sellers ~2 weeks before release.

Only a fool uses vgchartz to track sales.

(RAAAAAAAAAAGE) #26

Maybe cause Brink is something so new and original people have reserved feelings about it. So when all the 10/10 reviews start flooding in the sales will pick up even more

(Evil-Doer) #27

Brink is doing pretty damn good

(Nail) #28

it’s selling better than Crysis 2 on Steam

(trigg3r) #29

i also hope the word of mouth helps increse the sales after its release like it did with borderlands.
i had never even heard of borderlands 'till a friend of mine told me it was awesome and i had to get it like a month later after it was released.

Crysis 2 both sucks and is 60 USD.
Note: It’s not just holding up to LA Noire. It’s kicking LA Noire’s butt. There are more Brink preorders on PS3 (much lower Brink on 360) than there are LAN preorders on 360, by those charts.
Hey Linsolv, the charts that I saw on VGchartz at least said just the opposite that 360 Preorders for Brink were kicking the PS3’s butt, and there were many more LAN preorders on PS3 than Brink preorders.

Where is your info from?

(Linsolv) #32

Well, I said the 360 was beating the PS3.

However my math was just REALLY WRONG for the LAN-Brink comparison, and I thought I’d keep it to myself and hope nobody called me on it. It was working until SOMEONE had to come along and ruin it.

(Nail) #33

there’s an edit button for a reason

(Linsolv) #34

Well… the 360 version of Brink is higher than the 360 version of LAN? (I mean it is, but I’m not 100% that is actually a legitimate argument…)

(Cankor) #35

I would divide it by at least 2, for every player that only had one account, probably the same amount had 3. I think dividing by 2 is probably conservative.

(dommafia) #36

but there were also single player people that didnt create any.

(Seyu) #37

Perhaps the PSN outage has something to do with the low number of pre-orders on the PS3. People wouldn’t bee keen to buy multiplayer games when the service is down.

(tokamak) #38

Is the multiplayer really as good as the original again? Would be wonderful.

Our new floor mate brings an xbox so that’s going to be fun.

(Shanks) #39

#6 on Steam right now which I think is impressive considering that Steam hasn’t pushed it in any way. It’s not even on the featured games thing.

(Mustkunstn1k) #40

Yeah. I can’t understand why Steam isn’t featuring it on the big box. I really hope that they put it there a week before release.

Anyway, every time I look at this thread I am wondering what the devs / publishers think about it. I’m wondering if they consider it selling as hotcakes too. :stuck_out_tongue:
