Seeking ET Mapper...

(ArnoWar) #1

Hi all… This will be my first post here…

We are seeking ET mappers that could be interested in making maps for a tournament that we have started, where the Allied and Axis fight each other in a number of battles / campaigns HOMEPAGE

What we are dreeming for…
Any map where Axis are defending -> A version of the same map where Allied are defending.
Any map where Axis are attacking -> A version of the same map where Allied are attacking.
Dual Obj. maps like Wizernes and Marketgarden in RtCW.

Any help will be very much appricated

We will also be delighted to play test some your new maps on our server out side battles.

Ofcurs we also seek new players… anyone can join!

Having two maps sure is an expensive way of playing in stopwatch mode or doing /ref swapteams :???:

As for dual objectivce maps, if you wish to run a campaign you’ve got to be darned careful because they are very easy to make unbalanced.
The best (only?) way to make sure a map is 100% even is to mirror half of it, but that generally results in more boring looking maps (although to be honest that entirely depends on the quality of the mapper - I still remember bridge very fondly from my RTCW days  ).

Yeah, Bridge was awsome

I, speed mapper at your service.
what shall we start on first? I’m best will mapping-out large areas according to a drawn map or objective base game-flow.

brushwork, texture and lighting, and doing it fast are my main skills.

I’ll check back here soon for a replie

Yes your right… but it isent that much fun for a Allied Division to play Axis the half of the tournament … hehe

In our RtCW tournament we have that kind of versions of Beach, SE mitchelldown, powescape_v101 and wroclaw. And that has been a gr8 sucess… get em here if you want… http://montar.adsl.dk/rtcw/maps/BE_maps/

Probably the quickest way to swap a map’s teams would be to manually hack the spawn entities from one team to another, and the other relevenat entities (as well as objective descriptions too). If someone coded a program to do it, you could then swap any ET map in existence, including the official ones.

I won’t comment on the legality of such a thing of course
