If it comes from a plane its an ‘airstrike’ !! Artillery is from surface guns…it amuses me everytime I call an artillery strike and the plane flies over…just saying!

you may want to correct that.

if you play in underground at the attacker spawn, try to drop an arty.
you see, it does came from a cannon shot and Airbursted in the air, dropping the payload. then a plane flew.

it seems like the plane is more like a joint spotter guidance for the artillery round to airburst and drop the payload.

but, it may be a JDAM (Joint Direct Attack Munition) which dropped from a plane or shot by an artillery cannon to inflict precision strikes.
