Secondary Objectives

(LuvDubstep) #1

These missions are a pain. Personally for me, they require so much effort. Not only am I forced to play engi’s but I’m forced to prioritize these secondary objectives and it takes me forever to complete them. It’d be nice if you guys can help me out a bit and leave tips on completing these faster. Thanks in advance!

That and competitive missions are the ones I always discard no matter what.

(XavienX) #3

Trust me, it’s better than this.

(Badger_Commander) #4

I normally do the same but thought I’d try a competitive mission last night, ugh I regretted it. Almost everyone in it was behaving like a petulant child which seems to be the norm for that mode, of course it does happen in normal matches too but less often and not as extreme.

(LuvDubstep) #5

I discarded 3 in a row… Every rotation, it gave me another Secondary Obj… Game hates me lol

What about those 3 star missions where you must do 6 of secondaries?
I pesonally just sometimes discard 1 star sec. obj. missions, but i like to do all the missions except competetive ones…

(Sithas) #7

The objective mission should be toned down in numbers, add things that count as secondary objective or combine first and secondary objectives and make a mission of that. And yes i also immediately discard the competive mission.

(IcySkyz) #8

I have always wondered why is it specifically secondary objectives? Why doesn’t planting C4 on the main objective or repairing EV or disabling EV count. It would make much more sense to include any objective rather than just “secondary” objectives

(bontsa) #9

I personally wouldn’t find secondary missions such a bore unless it was so strict how to deal with them. It counts only fully, 100% completed (planted AND blown C4, fully repaired generator etcetc) secondaries with no reward for example defending a crucial secondary, lets say Bridge’s generator.

Don’t quote me on this darlings but I assume last time I tested, I did not get any progress on said mission when I, after Attackers had repaired it, destroyded Underground’s Gate generator at 2nd stage with C4. Could it be it only counts secondary objectives when Attackers perform them, since they are mostly made to ease that side’s advance?

Nevertheless, drunken stupor idea time! How about secondary missions revamped so that they calculate gamemode exp accumulated by dealing with these objectives in question? For example, all damage caused by explosive weaponary to generators, all “Guard” xp when defending C4 or generator, all defuse progress xp, all repair progress…Everything like so would make you progress through these said, even rather loathed missions.

(RyePanda) #10

Also forward spawn doesn’t count. That one annoyed me because I captured it 3 times and got nothing.

(SaulWolfden) #11

That is baffling that it isn’t counted.

(D'@athi) #12

Sorry, but capturing the forward-spawn on terminal is just as effective as carrying the objective over the then-build bridge on chapel.
Answer: The sniper(s) will love you.

But yesthere are three maps for this missions, three maps imo, mostly Underground-attack, then Trainyard-arrack, last Chapel-attack.

(AlBundy) #13

yeah the comp matches/wins and then the secondary missions bring a tear to my eye…then clicking the x makes me log out for about an hour usually

(Vigil) #14

I’m probably alone on this, but I like those missions. Not only are they generally easy for me (I play proxy and bushy alot), but it actually encourages people to do the secondaries. Too many people play this game as TDM and worry only about their K/D. The secondaries are extremely useful on some maps, and people seem to ignore them in favor of charging blindly into combat guns-a-blazin’. I wouldn’t mind a reduction in the number required though, and the criteria for completion should be revised. Forward spawns and such should count. Just my two cents.

(fraggyb) #15

I posted this in another thread but you can just use the elevators in Underground and get your six side objectives done in one easy match.

(Sinee) #16

Same. I manage with the secondary objectives, though they take longer than my other missions. But comp? Hell no. Why is DB trying to tell people to go play a comp match when the hacking is as rampant as it is right now? No F’ing way.

(bontsa) #17

For crying out loud, I had tendency to get these loathsome secondary missions 3-4 times in a row during mission cycles, now I’ve been playing for 2 days doing missions left and right and had absolutely 0 of them to try out this elevator trick myself. I noticed someone else mentioning it too and now it looks even more intriguing that @fraggyb commented on it.

Darn bloody horse piss.

I cannot help the feeling that certain people should remember to grab their happy pills

It’s a fine idea for a mission, since it directs specifically new players to realise the importance of said objectives. What is not fine however, how it is executed at current moment, and that is under discussion here. True, quite a lot of threads like this lately, but for your own sanity I wouldn’t recommend reacting this way to every single one of them. I cannot stress this enough, it’d be sad to see anyone turn like this :frowning:

If you actually read the post, you could clearly see I was asking for advice one completing the missions. It seems like I’m complaining, but maybe before you go off on someone, you should actually read what they wrote?
