Some kind of device that allows him to remove the disarm meter from the C4.
This is just a thought. And i would like to see people’s opinions.
Secondary Abilities for Phantom
I proposed in another thread to give him a spotting ability (with charges) similar to what you see in the Battlefield series. Press a button every time you see somebody you want to mark and bam, they are marked. This would give him some extra utility and firmly plant him as the CQC recon who uses SMG’s instead of sniper rifles.
Also, moving this to Mercenary Discussion.

So people can’t actually disarm it anymore? What a great idea. Why not giving him an “instant win” secondary instead? That’s pretty much the same thing.

It would not infinite. You could only use it when it is full (Like his cloak) and has a 50 Second recharge. But also the post above you is a better idea than mine.

This isn’t what he said at all.
It’s either a complete removal of the bar, or a slowly drain it down kind of thing, like a reverse plant. Thing is, I don’t see much use for this.

This is what i mean’t not instant detonation. And what Amerika said is a better idea.
My problem is you’re making a Covert Ops better at being an Engineer than an Engineer.
Well here’s my go at it i hope you like this idea.
A EMP device. Once its activated the enemies hood and deployables get disabled. And there would be some radius to the emp 25m less or above you decide. Cooldown 1:30mins or above so it doesn’t get spammed. It lasts 7sec and its used to help you’r team push out (if you’re getting camped) or u just have to escort the ev for a bit more and the enemies have set up in a certain spot.
What do u think about it?
what do you want the emp to do exactly once its activated? Think you left that part out of your post, atleast from what Im seeing
I do like the idea of giving Phantom a marking ability, as Amerika said, though much more precise and less catch-all compared to Vasili and Redeye. Maybe an IR dart or something that he can fire at enemies to mark them for team-mates (maybe even let him fire it while cloaked, balance depending). This way he would play more like a recon merc than an assault merc and would actually have a co-operative use.
I think he should have a deployable jammer or EMP grenades that disrupt enemy deployables (healing stations, turrets, etc.).
The way I see it, the whole point of Phantom is to undermine the enemy’s defense by slipping into their territory, picking off stragglers and important targets, and being a general nuisance. An annoying ability like this even plays into his character, somewhat.
@KlinkKlink I was thinking more of a EMP nade or something yeah. But i think that all electronic deployables and abilities get disabled.
Isn’t completely blocking certain abilities a bit extreme? Reducing Sparks to just an Empire-9 and blinding Redeye (who is supposed to counter Phantom at that) in his own smoke goes a little too far. I think it should just stop at deployables.
As a recon he need some sort of spotting ability.
I agree with Amerika’s suggestion for bf-like spotting ability.
that would also play to his other ability, stealth. Get behind enemy line and spot enemies.
another ability could be a target lock ability. meaning paint an area and call in kira/arty/skyhammer aoe ability on places out of their sights as long as phantom got LoS. again playing on his stealth ability to get to those places. of course the latter would need a long cooldown to prevent abuse tho and a notification if no aoe is currently available.
maybe it would be too random to have an ability that relies on what classes your team have.

If you can’t put effort into presenting the idea in a correctly spelled, easy to read manner, then it’s not a good idea. There is a level of Hell dedicated to those that substitute “u” for “you”, “ur” for “your”, “r” for “are”, etcetera. You are writing a forum post and conveying an idea, not sending a text message.
I’m going to side with the Battlefield style spotting idea, thank you very much. I’d even like to make it the Ability 1, if only because that’s the Ability I have bound to middle mouse.

And, yes, I know I’m arguing semantic! It’s the only argument I know I can win!!
The way I see it, Phantom needs one of two things.
- A way to spot enemies for his team. since he is a Recon class after all.
- A way to mess with or destroy deployables, since he’s a stealthy guy, and having someone like him to disable healing stations and turrets makes a lot of sense.
