Sorry if nub, but I don’t think the patch notes listed this change?
Second Edition Confirmed?
@AnonOmis1000 Nope he’s not wrong, I just checked and it does say “First Edition” although it doesn’t have the green highlight like that image.
Can you feel that 2nd generation of loadout cards that will be way better than the current ones and that will make your hard earned shinies completely useless and force you to rebuy everything?
I hope I’m being pessimistic, but if that was the case, that would be insanely disappointing.
They should just rebalance the bad cards, without touching the best ones, that way no one would complain that their rare good cards have been altered but that would make everything more balanced and that would offer different options instead of just 1 or 2 good cards for every merc. I’m afraid that the loadout system will look extremely messy if they add new cards.

Time to open some cases brother
Why do I have the weird feeling new cards will be so much better than the current ones, so we are forced to get them all in Gold/Cobalt?
Separating loadout cards having “functional” (weapons & augments) and cosmetic (cobalt/gold, skins overall) ones that can then be merged together at will, would solve also this unfairness that might come up with possible 2nd gen loadout cards
Just sayin’.
Tbh if they weren’t so adamant on not removing useless augments THEY have stated to be useless cough cool cough they wouldn’t have to make second generation cards. I like how some augments got really strong rework like Bomb Squad. The second generation cards will be better because the lack of shit augments but I think some classes have hard cards to beat. I don’t think you can do better than sparks, phantom, and Aimee’s best. (There are probably more but off the top of my head)
Ever since Phoenix new mercs have pretty balanced loadouts so I’m hoping the trend will continue. The problem is that releasing 9 ok-ish cards does nothing to replace older mercs’ OP cards.
It’s hard to imagine a better Sparks than 383.
It’s hard to create a M4 Fragger comparable with M62. Yeah, you could replace Cool with other useless augments, but the core perks stay the same so basically it would be the same card. Sure, you could replace it with Drilled but that would just create a new OP card that everyone uses. Meanwhile both M4 and K-121 already have 2 other loadouts barely anyone uses.
In conclusion: I don’t mind creating new loadouts where it makes sense, like Stoker, Phoenix, Aimee. Other mercs should undergo a balance pass first.
I’m not being pessimistic about 2nd gen cards. I don’t feel like they’d make a whole second edition just to make every card better than first gen (as some sort of cash grab or something); they are doing so because there are some absolutely useless cards in the game. SD/Nexon don’t want to delete/remove cards already in existence that people have paid for, but as the game ages and people tradeup/quit, older OP cards (383, C94, etc.) will become rarer and less of an issue. I see the second gen as the balancing the loadout system needs (if they can execute them)
I think what the “editions” will be are just the skins. That’s why special edition cards are of already existing loadouts. The next edition will be all new skins but the same loadouts.
In time, the treasures we have eventually will be “obsolete” and we have no choice to go other than following the streams of “trend” to be able to survive in this age…
Here’s to hoping we get rid of the least used cards in exchange for new ones.
At least I hope they go back to replace Cool (and hopefully Pineapple Juggler) on the old cards since they said they’re be retiring a perk like Cool since it has zero use in Exeuction.
341 (M9 and Becky over Selbstadt and Stiletto) with Extra Supplies over Potent Packs.
